  1. I couldn't tell if you were serious or not. I do remember, though, that there were some here who thought that the Mets collapse actually did undermine Baseball Prospectus' credibility.
  2. I don't think that's a reflection on their credibility; it's a reflection on how badly the Mets blew it.
  3. The city's website, NYC.gov, lists restaurant inspection results citywide. I can see the Citi Field violations, but unfortunately, it doesn't specify which vendor is which. There are just a bunch simply labeled "CONCESSIONS" with no distinctions between them. (Other than the number and nature of their violations, that is.) Citi Field results
  4. Baseball Prospectus gives the Mets a 7.27046 per cent chance of making the playoffs. (4.30876 for the division, 2.96171 for the wild card.) That's down just over 16 points from seven days ago.
  5. Resign? Or re-sign?

  8. Yes, this should be "Ollie to KC?" not "Ollie to KC". Here's what Ken Rosenthal is saying: Ken Rosenthal wrote: The Mets and Royals are discussing a trade that would result in an exchange of Mets left-hander Oliver Perez for Royals righty Gil Meche and possibly more. The names under discussion, major-league sources say, include outfielder Jeff Francoeur and second baseman Luis Castillo from the Mets and reliever Kyle Farnsworth and outfielder Jose Guillen from the Royals. To be clear: Those names are in play, but might not all be in the same proposals. A trade, if it happens, will not necessarily be 3-for-3. Perez and Meche have exactly the same amount of money remaining on their contracts the pro-rated portion of $12 million this season and $12 million next season. The contracts of Francoeur and Farnsworth also match up almost evenly. Francouer is earning $5 million this season and eligible for arbitration next season. Farnsworth is earning $4.5 million this season with a $5.25 million club option for next season. Guillen is owed just over $4 million on the final year of his contract. Castillo is owed just over $8 million on his deal, which runs through next season.
  9. WHOA!
  10. batmagadanleadoff wrote: We've regressed over the last 20 years. Because it makes eminent sense to match the reliever to the game situation, rather than to the inning. I agree. It's really mind-boggling.
  11. So, Dan's as dumb as Jerry. Good to know.
  12. So, Frankie is the last pitcher remaining in the Mets pen. Which means that Oliver is probably in the game until the Mets have a lead that needs to be blown.
  13. Wow, the Dodgers pitcher has a higher ERA than Ollie does! I wish I could watch this, but I'm in a region where they showed the Phillies game instead. Like, who wants to watch that??

  16. If the $2 million is an obstacle for the Royals, why would they bother trading for Francoeur? He'll likely get even more than that next year from arbitration, and since the Royals aren't contending, there's no need to "rent" him.
  17. I don't think Francoeur's presence as a fourth outfielder is hurting the team. But, if he can be dealt for a decent AAA player who's a marginal prospect, there wouldn't be much harm in doing that, either.
  18. Charlie Hough?
  19. Gotta be Nolan Ryan. How about... Jim Sundberg?
  20. Voting for Wednesday night's 14-inning loss in Phoenix will close sometime over the weekend, perhaps as early as Saturday morning. Please try go get any remaining votes in today. Schaefer POTG 7/21/2010 - ARI 4 NYM 3 (14)

  23. The firecracker thread was posted first, if only by a few seconds.
  24. I much fear that Yogi's grasp may be getting tenuous.
