  1. That's it; Jerry's turning it over to Frankie, with one out and two on.
  2. Parnell apparently no longer throwing. Gary says no action in the Mets pen.
  3. Keith: "Josh has done a nice job handling Dickey." I'm sure there was much snickering among the viewing audience.
  4. One out in the top of the eighth. Make that two. Parnell throwing in the pen.
  5. It's raining at [crossout:20keqgv0]Shea[/crossout:20keqgv0]Citi Field.
  6. I know I would, at least, unless trouble develops.
  7. Angel Pagan, Gary points out, is the Citi Field all-time home run king, with 10. He also leads in triples with 11. David Wright and Angel Pagan pretty much lead in all offensive categories.
  8. Dickey: 7 scoreless innings, 83 pitches. 2 hits, 1 walk, 2 strikeouts.
  9. Billy Joel's Last Play at Shea is the biggest outdoor movie premiere since 1919?
  10. Yes, no doubt about it. Beltran went around the plate, never touched it, and was clearly tagged out.
  11. Six scoreless for Dickey! There's some prestigious Schaefer honors in the balance here, and he's stepping up.
  12. Are they no longer playing Vanis Takee for Carlos Beltran?
  13. Dickey survives a first-inning double by Jay and gets out of the inning. Ralph Kiner will be in the booth with Gary and Keith later on.
  14. Keith reporting that he slept poorly last night. Maybe he'll take another mid-game nap.
  15. I know. But we'll also need it next year and the year after that.
  16. DUH! My bad! I was thinking of the Phillies pitcher, not the Cardinals outfielder.
  17. Holliday also cost players, since he arrived by trade. Bay only cost money. My hunch (hope) is that Bay is merely suffering from Foster-Beltran syndrome, and will improve in subsequent years in Queens. (Hopefully more towards the Beltran end of the spectrum.)
  18. Hopefully Omar's successor will wisely opt for the $3.5 million buy-out.
  19. Was Frankie's deal for three years? Or four? (It's the "after next year" part that has me confused.) I thought his contract expired after 2011.
  20. Why was Takahashi even in the game? Isn't he still scheduled to start on Saturday? If so, why was he pitching the 7th inning of a Wednesday game that the Mets were trailing 7 to 3?
  21. Feliciano's having a bad month, to be sure (6.23 ERA in July over 8.2 innings) but 8.2 innings is a relatively small sample. He's had similarly bad months before. (Check out August '09, July '07, and July '08.)
  22. Edgy DC wrote: If they're going to make a move, it's got to be for offense. At what position, though? I think the most upgradable positions are second base, catcher, and first base. (Not that I'd give up on Davis, but letting him take a back seat to an Adam Dunn for a few months might be one way to juice the offense for the remainder of 2010.) There's outfield, too, if it looks like Bay is going to be down for a while, but that's a hard call to make between now and Saturday.
  23. I don't see the point to the Mets getting Lilly either.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: You know what would look great in the UMDB? Including Metly Players of the Month among the awards. Already there
