  1. "Et's Go Mets"?
  2. Good point. The players have a very strong union.
  3. My goons are on alert!
  4. And let us not forget Dooley Wilson: As Ingrid Bergman says, nobody sings As Time Goes By like he did.
  5. I voted for "Vance" but only because "Flip" wasn't one of the choices.
  6. No. I just learned about the 3D version today when reading the Wikipedia article. I did see it in HD, though.

  8. Most episodes of Adventures of Superman were about common crooks who would shoot their guns at Superman's chest until they ran out of bullets, and then they'd throw the pistol at him. The episodes with Mole Men and the like were the exception, not the rule. And yes, Incredible Hulk was like The Fugitive. And maybe if the show was called The Hot-Tempered Wanderer I wouldn't have been so disappointed in it. But I wanted the Hulk to be the Hulk! I wanted him leaping great distances. I wanted him saying "Hulk will smash puny humans!" I wanted the army going after him with big powered super machines. I wanted the Leader, and the Abomination, and all I got was a mopey Bill Bixby and a sleazy journalist. I know that CBS wasn't looking to cater to the comic book fanatic; they were focusing on the general public. And given that the series lasted a bunch of seasons, I guess they succeeded. But they lost me pretty early on. I think I probably bailed before the end of the second season.
  9. Edgy DC wrote: Totally not analogous to The Adventures of Superman. So totally not! It is to me. Comic book character operating in the much more boring real world. It's kind of like if Dorothy stayed in Kansas for the whole film.
  10. I'll be more optimistic about Bobby coming to Queens once the Mariners hire somebody not named Bobby Valentine.
  11. It wasn't at all what I was wanting/expecting from a Hulk show. The Hulk was just a goofy looking growling beast; he didn't have the personality of the character in the comics. He didn't really have any personality at all. Sure, it was cool when Bill Bixby (don't even get me started on David Banner) transformed and made some bully pay, but I would've liked something a lot more comic-booky. To put it in Superman terms, I was hoping for something more like Smallville and ended up with The Adventures of Superman instead.
  12. By that logic, Billy Martin's jersey would fare even worse.
  13. I think we disagree here. I hated that damn show.
  14. Hopefully this one won't take any inspiration at all from the original TV series, which left me profoundly disappointed.
  15. Watched Dial M For Murder for the first time yesterday. Very enjoyable.
  16. Hopefully, though, Daniels won't be free to talk to the Mets until after the World Series. (I do like seeing "Mets" and "World Series" in the same sentence!) If it is going to be Daniels, he might not be able to be in place until well into November. (Of course, if things go poorly, the Rangers might be done in less than a week.)
  17. I've only seen a few photos of Logan White, but in each one he looks like he just woke up after spending the night on a park bench.
  18. It's good to be chuffed? If someone walked up to me and said, "I'm chuffed!" I would think that they were angry or irritated. Guess not.

  20. I'm a little concerned about that too, mainly in how it affects the outside chance that the choice might be Bobby Valentine. But I do think that there are more qualified managers than there are open positions, and some of the open positions will go to guys we (meaning our group here) probably would prefer not to see manage the Mets anyway. I think if the Mets hire a GM who knows what makes a good manager, that he'll be able to find a guy even if he were to wait until February. (Which of course he won't do.)
  21. The latest speculation (as seen in today's Daily News and elsewhere) is that Logan White might make a lateral move from the Dodgers to the Mets and would work under Sandy Alderson.
  22. Once again, this is a mere formality. I'm pretty sure I know how this one will go.
  23. metirish wrote: Bobby V interviewed by Toronto today, will be interviewed by Seattle and Florida Marlins too, he's getting hired somewhere and it's not looking like Flushing. I never really thought there was much chance of that. (But until he actually gets hired elsewhere it will continue to be a possibility.)
  24. The first one is easy: 1977-1978 Yankees vs. Dodgers. The second one is much harder... I'll guess New York Giants and Philadelphia Athletics some time in the 1910's.
