NY Daily News wrote: The latest on Ike Davis BY Andy Martino Ike Davis lives in Arizona, and had nothing better to do than join the Mets for this series. When life consists of walking on a treadmill, watching DVDs of The Wire and Breaking Bad, and wishing your ankle would heal, its nice at least to see your friends. Its up in the air, said Davis, who saw a specialist in North Carolina this week. It could heal on his own. It couldnt. That, at least, will end around Labor Day. If Davis needs surgery--which could be either a serious microfracture procedure, or a minor arthroscopic one--he needs to have it by early September, in order to be ready for spring training. He still hopes to avoid surgery, because doctors told him, Its probably never going to feel the same (if he has surgery), but it will hopefully get better. Still, if he he has to undergo the procedure, he wants to do it as soon as possible, and move his life and career out of stasis. The waiting game is kind of getting old, he said.
