  1. So they'll go into this doubleheader with 13 pitchers and only four hitters on their bench.
  2. Weather forecast looking pretty good: Tonight: A slight chance of rain after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45. Southwest wind between 14 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  3. Where do you park in Flushing? At a garage or lot near the 7 train? When I went to the game on April 7 there were very few spots left under the overpass and it occurred to me that I didn't have a fallback plan other than the Citi Field lot.
  4. "Rotoworld.com" says that Adam Rubin says that it's Cedeno. According to ESPN New York's Adam Rubin, Ronny Cedeno is likely headed to the disabled list. It's not clear what type of injury Cedeno is dealing with nor how he suffered it. The 29-year-old infielder has hit .250 with a .771 OPS through 16 plate appearances this season. Jordany Valdespin could be officially promoted to take Cedeno's place on the Mets' 25-man roster.
  5. I don't think they'd have a problem with Valdespin spending 15 days as a big league bench player. But I could be wrong.

  8. Since it's Valdespin, who has played both infield and outfield, it could really be just about any position player who's a DL candidate, other than Thole or Nickeas. I doubt that Valdespin would be the replacement for Davis, but he could be the guy for Cedeno, Turner, Murphy, Wright, Tejada, Nieuwenhuis, Bay, Duda, Baxter, or Hairston. Sheesh!
  9. I was kind of thinking that they might temporarily swap Batista's spot for a reliever. Not sure what's going on with Valdespin, though. I figure either Baxter is on his way out, or there's some injury to an infielder or outfielder that we haven't yet heard about.
  10. Yeah, I parked for free under the overpass just a couple of weeks ago.
  11. I think, if I had to, I'd pay $50 to not visit the House of Evil.
  12. How much does it cost to park at Citi Field? I haven't paid for parking there since 2000 when I was coming from Connecticut and got there too late to find free parking under the Northern Blvd. overpass. I was routed to a spot so deep inside the parking lot that it took me two hours to get out of the lot. That was very aggravating. In earlier years, when I'd park in the Shea lot I'd arrive early enough to get a spot facing the gate, make a quick right turn onto Northern Blvd. towards Main Street in Flushing and then head south on Main St. to the LIE. I lived in Smithtown then and I'd usually be home in about 45 minutes after the game ended. Those were the days.
  13. Yeah, I'd take mass transit to Shea during the seasons where Citi Field was under construction, and parking spaces were therefore reduced, and it was pretty awful. It could take forever to get on a 7 train, or an LIRR train. It would add about an hour (at least) to the trip home. And I'd still have to pay for parking anyway, either in Trenton, or Jersey City, or Manhattan. Driving is a million times (roughly) more convenient. I might feel differently, though, if I lived close to the 7 or along the Port Washington branch of the LIRR.
  14. No IGT yet for today's game (and since the Mets won yesterday, it would be a faux pas for me to start one) so I'll post this here: This Afternoon: Periods of rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 55. North wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
  15. After 14 games, only one player has started every game for the Mets: Daniel Murphy. Murphy, Duda, and Davis are the only players who have appeared in each game.
  16. I know this really doesn't mean much at this point, but Jason Bay currently leads the Mets in runs scored, with 8. (Nieuwenhuis has 7, Tejada and Duda have 6.) Baxter seems to be an okay player, but unless someone else gets hurt, I think he'll be headed for Buffalo when Torres returns.
  17. And we were all angst-ridden about losing Kevin Mulvey!
  18. Please remember... until the voting is closed, Schaefer POTG threads should not have any conversation! That belongs in this thread. Thank you!
  19. The one move I really liked was Terry pulling Francisco before the lead was lost. In recent years, that has become something of a taboo for some bizarre reason. The closer never seems to leave the game before the lead is completely blown. The Giants announcers even raised their eyebrows at that. (I didn't see their eyebrows, but I heard them.)
  20. Byrdak 0.25 Duda 0.75 Murphy 0.75 Pelfrey 5.25 Tejada 3
  21. Can't be Lambert, he's not on the active roster. The emergency catcher is the guy who finishes the game behind the plate if both Thole and Nickeas are out of the game.
  22. I want Pelfrey to pitch the ninth.
  23. A dead heat for first place!
  24. Edgy DC wrote: I'm not advocating for it, but I wouldn't be shocked if talk of Harvey debuting as a reliever (and potential closer) starts surfacing as well. Bleah! I sure hope that doesn't happen. Hopefully they'll turn to Rauch or Parnell before that happens.
