  1. Nieuwenhuis triples (maybe) off Stanton's glove right at the wall.
  2. Marlins out in order in the first.
  3. SNY is using the same "Hand of Sean" font that the UMDB uses for the scorecards.
  4. Early exit for Koosman that day. Was he hurt? (And also... is he out of jail yet?)
  5. Ron mentioned something about that on a broadcast once. Not about being reactivated, but he's very much aware that he had 99 wins as a Met and wishes he had 100. While they're at it, the Mets could reactivate Tom Seaver too, so that he can get two more.

  7. Mark Clark? Jae Seo? Wow, he's getting into some elite company! There are a few active Mets ahead of Dickey on the all time list: WINS BY A METS PITCHER 1. Tom Seaver 198 2. Dwight Gooden 157 3. Jerry Koosman 140 4. Ron Darling 99 5. Sid Fernandez 98 6. Al Leiter 95 7. Jon Matlack 82 8. David Cone 81 9. Bobby Jones 74 10. Steve Trachsel 66 11. Tom Glavine 61 12. Craig Swan 59 13. Aaron Heilman, Pedro Feliciano, Jae Seo, Mark Clark, Turk Wendell, R. A. Dickey 22 Niese, with his seven-year contract, seems to have the best shot right now at becoming only the fourth Mets pitcher to win 100 games.
  8. Today: Showers likely, mainly after 4pm. Cloudy, with a high near 63. Southeast wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  9. The somewhat controversial voting for Tuesday's win over the Marlins will close on Friday morning. Schaefer POTG 4/24/12 - Mets 2, Marlins 1
  10. Baxter 1.25 Dickey 4.5 Duda 1.25 Parnell 0.4 Rauch 0.6 Wright 2
  11. I'm saying that they're deeply screwed if ONE more guy goes down. Any team would be screwed if they lost five.
  12. Does it look like he'll be ready by mid-May? If so, that's only about three weeks from now. I think we can get by with Schwinden or Hefner until then. Niese, Dickey, Santana, and Gee had better stay healthy. If not, this lack of depth will become a whole lot worse than it already is.
  13. Davis hitting 7th. This will only be the second time he's hit that low in the lineup. (He batted 7th once in 2010.) Can't say I have a problem with that. I think he should probably sit for a game or two but I do understand the desire to keep him in there, especially with two other regulars (Bay and Torres) on the DL.
  14. The window cling looks pretty nice. In the quick glimpse of it I saw, I failed to see a Xerox logo on it. Did I miss it, or is it possible that the Mets are giving away a sponsored item that's untainted by a corporate logo?
  15. I wonder... what are the chances of getting a veteran journeyman pitcher or outfielder off the waiver wire in late April? I'm guessing it might not be so good. I guess there might be some guys who were released in spring training who might not yet have caught on with anyone, but I imagine that they're not going to be choice picks. (Someone like Dontrelle Willis yet, but does he have anything at all left?) It seems that the plan was to simply hope that their lack of depth wouldn't hurt them, but that hope is fading. It's early yet, and it's theoretically possible that people like Schwinden and Hefner will give us more than Pelfrey would have, but you can't count on that. And if another starter gets hurt, things will really be ugly.
  16. Here are two other words: Dwight Gooden.
  17. I don't know that Harvey necessarily needs a full year a AAA, but I'd also prefer not to call him up in April. Let's try to hold the spot with Schwinden, or Hefner, or whoever for another six to eight weeks, and then see where we are. Maybe it will make sense to call Harvey up some time in June or July.
  18. I have heard of him. Never said I didn't. It's still a great name, even if it's been held by more than one person.
  19. I don't see that this option is anything to be concerned with, at all. If it gets that far, the Mets will release Jason Bay in 2013 on the day before he gets the at bat that triggers the option year.
