Okay, fine, Acosta can be the third guy out the door. I'd keep him in the organization; let him see if he can get his act together in Buffalo. Schwinden too, I suppose. Batista should probably just be released.

Would it be possible to replace Acosta, Batista, and Schwinden on the roster before the next game the Mets play?

"Smash your gnome" sounds like some kind of kinky euphemism.

At this point, I'd let Valdespin finish the game for Wright. I'd pull Murphy and Tejada too, except that with Turner used I think the Mets are out of infielders.

Turner hits for Schwinden, thereby ending his misery for the day. Tejada has his third hit of the day.

Do you let Schwinden bat in the 5th? Let him take his lumps and spare the bullpen some innings? Or do you get him the hell out of there now?

To Chris Johnson again. If I'm Ceetar, I'm thinking that Schwinden is a pretty good pitcher as long as he's not pitching to Chris Johnson.

Wow, Ceetar, are you actually in the Mets dugout??? Is Anna Karenina there?

The MLB.com box score shows Duda available on the bench, but the box score on Yahoo.com (which I trust a bit less) shows Nieuwenhuis as a sub for Duda.

And now he's 3 and 0 on the second batter.

I see what Terry is trying to do... with four of the starting eight batting left-handed, he doesn't want to cluster them too much in the middle of the lineup. Edgy's lineup accomplishes the same thing, but I think, in a better way. EDIT: Ceetar said pretty much the same thing I did, but two minutes sooner.

I agree that Captain America and the first Iron Man movie are the best of the bunch. In my house, we're having a Marvel Movie week and so far we've watched the first three. (Thor is tonight's feature.) Remember, although Nick Fury didn't appear in Incredible Hulk, Robert Downey Jr. had an after-the-credits cameo as Tony Stark, so I'd say that movie is certainly part of this series. Oh, and yes, Rocketeer was terrific.

I guess there are things that could go wrong that would be immediately identifiable. A patient could die on the operating table, for example. Or when the surgery is done he could find that his fingers are paralyzed. So I think that when they say that it went well, they mean that nothing went horribly wrong.

I was wondering that too. Pelfrey is eligible for arbitration again for 2013, right? And he can't get less than 80 per cent of this year's contract, so he'll surely be non-tendered. Once that happens, he'll be available cheap and I suppose the Mets might be one of the teams willing to consider signing him. (I don't know if they will or not, and my guess is that they won't, but Pelfrey isn't necessarily finished as a Met.)

SCHAEFER METS PLAYER OF THE WEEK Week ending April 14: Jon Niese, 6.63 points. Week ending April 21: Mike Pelfrey, 7.85 points. Week ending April 28: Lucas Duda, 8.00 points.

Jordany Valdespin's total of 0.02 points averaged down to zero, so he does not appear among the results.

I suspect he used Duda early because he had to hold Baxter back. It turns out that Mike Baxter is the emergency catcher.

No, there's no Black Widow movie, at least not yet anyway. I think that Ant Man and the Wasp were included in early treatments for the Avengers movie, but for whatever reason they didn't make the final cut. There was also talk a few years ago of an Ant Man movie, but that doesn't seem to have gone anywhere. It's interesting to see some of the posts that Vic made earlier in this thread, and several years ago, about comics movies on the horizon. So many of them didn't come to pass. What version of Anna Karenina did you see? The Garbo version, or a more recent one?

Does Nick Fury show up after the credits in Anna Karenina?

You know, just because a high-priced free agent doesn't get off to a quick start, it doesn't mean he won't get it together before too long. I mean, look at Jason Bay!
