    I hope next year to see a new manager, a new catcher, a new second baseman, three new outfielders and what the hell, a new coaching staff. I suspect I'm going to be disappointed. And I don't know what to think about the bullpen. There's a new one every year, and it's never any good. I suppose the thing to wish for is a bullpen that sees many fewer innings.

    I just got an e-mail from a friend of Bob Myrick, telling me that Bob died this morning, possibly while mowing his neighbor's lawn. I can't find any news reports just yet, but if this report is true we'll probably see some official confirmation in the next couple of days.
