  1. Jordany's tweet translates to "They criticize me to undo my self esteem but I'm going straight wing top. I was not born to lose pa." Good for him! Straight wing top! That's the only way to do it!
  2. I looked it up, so I won't be guessing again. But it was interesting to see this guy's name on the list:

  4. Maybe I missed something, but I'd be surprised if there were three posts in this forum saying that Ankiel would help the team.
  5. Hefner 2.5 Murphy 3 Wright 0.5
  6. Voting for all four games played against the Pirates will close on Wednesday afternoon, some time after 2 p.m. The May 12 game is particularly low on votes. 7. You're right. It's better to test guys like Lagares or Nieuwenhuis, who may prove to be part of the future, than Ankiel, who's very unlikely to be.
  8. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Being a Met fan this year must be something like rooting for Wes Westrum's Mets in '67. One pitcher and 24 dwarfs. And even Seaver, in '67, wasn't as good as Harvey is right now. Coming into this season I was hoping it would be a 1983 kind of year. Instead it's smelling more like 1979.
  9. Swan Swan H wrote: Ankiel will be in 16, per Rubin. It would be better if he was in 2008. I don't know what the point of this is, really. It's not a move for the future, and that's the kind of move they really need to make. This one's not likely to do any harm, though, unless Ankiel takes playing time away from someone more deserving, but the Mets don't seem to have that kind of someone.
  10. So he's been struggling with a stiff back and a neck injury? Maybe they should 15-day him and give McHugh (if not Wheeler) a couple of starts. Right now some rest might be better for Niese than continuing to send him out there.
  11. Darryl Strawberry?
  12. Zvon wrote: If we send him down for a spell, plenty of players can fill that spot as opposed to unsettling Duds again. I don't know about "plenty", but I tend to agree that it would be better not to move Duda, or Murphy for that matter, to first base as a temporary measure. I would guess that the choices for an alternative to Davis are Turner, Campbell, or Satin. The time may very well come when one of them will get a shot. Davis may or may not snap out of this and become the long-term answer that we'd all like him to be, but it may soon be time to start working on Plan B. For the moment, the options are all internal.
  13. Harvey 3.75 Duda 1.5 Baxter 1.5 Lagares 0.35
  14. Recker 1 Atchison 1 Carson 0.5
  15. NPR had a report on Valley Fever this morning on Morning Edition. I don't know how much relevance it has to Ike Davis (was he ever even officially diagnosed), but it was potentially very discouraging. The anti-fungal medication can keep the growth of the fungus in check, but it never eliminates it.
  16. Everyone except Snider has a first name that starts with a B and a last name that starts with a vowel. The sequence presented isn't at all chronological, so I really have no idea.
  17. The total of 0.04 points awarded to Andrew Brown averaged down to zero, so he does not appear among the results.
  18. I agree with Johnny. Let Lagares play for a while. The Mets will have at least two outfield positions to fill for 2014, and we might as well use 2013 as a laboratory to figure out what the internal options are. Marlon Byrd isn't at all likely to be a starting outfielder on the next Mets contending team even if, as hoped, that happens as soon as next year. Of course, the other factor here is that Terry probably feels that he needs to "win now" to keep his job so he may be more motivated to think short term in a season where the focus is probably better placed on the longer term. Is that a reason to either extend or fire Terry right now? I'm not sure, but maybe.
  19. Gee 1.7 Lyon 1 Parnell 1 Byrd 1.2 Lagares 0.8 Davis 1.75 Baxter 1.75 Buck 0.4 Brown 0.4
  20. Voting for Wednesday night's loss to the White Sox will close on Monday morning. Schaefer POTG 5/8/13 - White Sox 6, Mets 3
  21. I liked it well enough, I guess. The ending was ridiculously over the top. In fact, I preferred the middle portion to the chaotic final battle scene.
  22. Voting for Tuesday night's win over the White Sox at Citi Field will close on Friday afternoon after 2 p.m. Schaefer POTG 5/7/13 - Mets 1, White Sox 0 (10 Innings)
