  2. I'd be confident that the Mets will win this game, if doing so didn't require that they score at least one run.

I see no similarities between Matt Harvey and Batman. You'll never catch me referring to Syndergaard as Thor, or using any Batman references in regard to Matt Harvey. And yes, this thread immediately made me think of Art Howe!
  5. I'm probably the last person here who would know of one!
  6. Voting for all three games from last weekend's series against Arizona will close some time over the weekend. After that, Schaefer tallying will be on hold for a while as I'll be away on vacation for the next two and a half weeks. Keep on opening the threads, and keep on voting (or not voting, as the case may be) and all games will be tallied shortly after my return on August 5. I hope to return to the United States with the Mets securely in first place. 7. Of course, only three of the Big Four are tradeable at this point: Syndergaard, Harvey, and deGrom. Matz is on the DL (that's the Disabled List, not the "down low"). And Wheeler, of course, is the fifth guy in the Big Four and he can't be dealt either. I have to say, I wouldn't be too upset if the Mets traded Harvey for a kickass power-hitting outfielder who's 26 years old and three or four years away from free agency.
  8. The Mets will be aiming high on the offensive front, with Justin Upton and ex-Met property Carlos Gomez said to be on their radar. Upton and Gomez are seen as difference makers in an otherwise less-than-robust offensive market, though Upton, uncharacteristically, hasn't really hit lefthanders this year (.484 OPS) ... They talked to the Brewers about Aramis Ramirez but would only have interest if there's more bad news on David Wright. Mets people are hoping Wright (spinal stenosis) can transition from back rehab in California to Port St. Lucie within a couple weeks, though it's said to very much be "up in the air." If he can't, they will need to get a third baseman, as they prefer to move Daniel Murphy off third ... The Mets may still look at Segura, but he's seen as more of a fallback option for them ... Untouchable for the Mets: the big four pitchers ... The Braves have suggested Uribe, but the Mets haven't shown much interest to this point
  9. I'm starting to think of Brandon Nimmo as Shawn Abner.
  10. Gawrsh! I feel so eponymous!
  11. Matlack led off the bottom of the 8th in a tie game. Wasn't removed for a pinch-hitter. The game has definitely changed. Today he'd almost certainly have been pulled after Cedeno's double, if not before.
  12. Wait... the Mets only used one pitcher? In a nine-inning game??? How is that possible????
  13. And he borrows his sweaters from The Riddler.
  14. I don't agree about the pain part. If rooting for the Mets brought me more pain than pleasure I wouldn't do it.
  15. I'd rather see them get an outfielder. I know that Tejada isn't likely to be productive with the bat over a long stretch, but the Mets infield is pretty decent right now. There's more room for improvement in the outfield.
  16. I read an online article today (I think it was from the Post) that speculated that, with the young pitchers and Conforto being pretty much untouchable, it might be Nimmo that gets traded as part of the "overpayment" for a veteran bat.
  17. That's a clown question, bro.
