  1. That's it! No more eating until November!
  2. Baseball Prospectus odds update: Mets are now 88.2% to win the division, 0.2% to win one of the two wild card spots. Their chances of winning the World Series are at 9.2%. There are currently seven first-place teams (because of a tie in the AL East) and here are the World Series odds for all seven teams: Blue Jays 13.8% Dodgers 13.4% Astros 13.2% Cardinals 10.2% Royals 10.1% METS 9.2% Yankees 8.5%
  3. I don't think so. The Mets have become a good team. I'm optimistic for a division title, more wary about going much beyond that, but let's see what happens!
  4. Edgy MD wrote: I'm just jealous that there are still bisbol fora out there with 56-page threads. Get us some users, people. That thread does also demonstrate the difference between quality and quantity.
  5. That picture again????? We're doomed!
  6. Voting for all three games played in Denver this past weekend will close on Wednesday morning, some time after 10 a.m. Vote counts for these three Mets wins are surprisingly low, but they'll close when they close. Schaefer POTG 8/21/15 - Mets 14, Rockies 9 Schaefer POTG, 08/22/2015 Mets 14, Colorado 9 Schaefer POTG, 08/23/2015. Mets 5, Colorado 1
  7. Okay, how about Ron Carey?
  8. How about that one idiot who hoped that all of the violent Mets fans would riot and kill each other? I noticed one poster in that thread who was a voice of reason, but everyone else was either too cocky or too maudlin.
  9. One and two are still the Friday and then the Sunday in the most recent series with the Nats. I'm a sucker for walk-offs, so after that would be most of those, plus the Cespedes game the other night, but last night's is on the list for sure. In no particular order after one and (maybe) two: Friday, Jul 31 Sunday, Aug 2 Tuesday, Aug 25 Sunday, Jul 26 Saturday, Jun 27 Thursday, Jun 11 Monday, May 18 Tuesday, May 26 Monday, Jun 15 Friday, Aug 21 Glad to see that tonight's game made the list before it was even played. It's nice to know beforehand that the game will be a good one.
  10. Murphy needs doubles to catch Ed Kranepool.
  11. Yeah, I think he's a Perry Como kind of guy.
  12. I think the date was July 25, but I'm not sure of that.
  13. Carlos Torres, July 4, 2014. He had a strikeout and a sac hit. If you mean two AT BATS, instead of two plate appearances, it would be Raul Valdes, who I don't even remember at all, on May 20, 2010.
  14. They can get it up to 5 by averaging 8.3 runs per game the rest of the way.
  15. Since the Nationals were idle, and unable to counter with a win of their own, yesterday's Mets win has a bigger impact on the NHOP, which drops from 0.449 to 0.442. The magic number is now 34. The Mets have 38 games remaining and the Nationals have 39. Baseball Prospectus hasn't updated their odds yet this morning to reflect yesterday's games. I'll have to check in again later. 17. I was watching on TiVo delay. I was tempted to give up when the Mets were down 7-2, but "all in" means "all in" so I happily stuck with it. (I did do a bit of fast-forwarding, mainly while the Phillies were hitting.) The only bad news was deGrom's performance. Hopefully it's an anomaly. If not, we're in a bit of trouble. It was nice to see that David Wright can not only still hit homers and field his position, but he can still wipe his nose with his jersey.
  18. My prediction: Mets 16, Phillies 7. A strong outing by Syndergaard in Citizens Bank Park would be very welcome, but I expect he'll struggle. The way the Mets have been hitting lately gives me hope that they can overcome whatever hole Syndergaard might put them in.
  19. It seems like the Mets are still in Denver. Are all the remaining games going to be like this?
  20. Anything can happen, and that's what makes this scary. But pennant races are supposed to be scary, but the fact that it's August 24 and our guts are churning is what makes all this fun. It's much better than the apathy that has settled in by this point over the last six years.
