  1. ...that the Mets are "likely suitors" for J.D. Martinez, Eric Hosmer, Jay Bruce, and Lorenzo Cain. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/250373002/top-10-mlb-free-agents-for-2017-18-offseason/ On Hosmer, age 28: Look for him to command a six- or seven-year deal around $20 million per year. On Martinez, 30: Five years and $110 million are attainable if Martinez continues his current tear. Bruce, 31: ...he will likely end up with a four-year contract north of Josh Reddick's $52 million dollar deal last offseason. Cain, 32: Cain could still command four years and a total of $60 million or more.
  2. I don't see any reason not to do this. And who knows, given an opportunity he may play himself into the Mets plans for 2018. At least he'll be motivated to try.
  3. Trading for AJ Ramos to bolster the 2018 bullpen is also a sign that they're not in "rebuild" mode.
  4. Maybe! But I'd like to see a more sustained run of success before I feel that he can be counted on.
  5. Robert Stephenson knows how to picnic. Here's another picture of him with his wife:
  6. I think the plan is to bounce back and contend again in 2018. Whether it works out that way, of course, remains to be seen.
  7. I wonder if we'll ever again see a starting pitcher throw 13.1 innings.
  8. I think I read that the only other outfielder on the 40-man roster is Wuilmer Becerra, and he's all the way down in Single A. So to get an outfielder onto the major league roster they'd have to tinker with the 40-man.
  9. Cast your vote!
  10. If they did, they'd be called the Mountain Lions.
  11. I don't know. Maja recognizes my number and then hangs up.
  12. This same photo was on the cover of the New York Post today. I briefly considered including it in the 2017 Tabloid Cover Derby.
  13. He's definitely shut it down for 2017. I think he plans to see what the doctor says before he makes any decisions for 2018. David's pattern has been to rest and rehab for months, and then play for a few days, and then rest and rehab for months. I would fully understand if he didn't want to get on that merry-go-round again.
  14. He should just change his name to "Shirley"
  15. I thought that Citi Field was built on the Shea Stadium parking lot.
  16. Done! (You can unhide your eyes now.)
  17. Really? Terry should be fired for resting Amed Rosario in the second game of a doubleheader?
