I had totally forgotten how bad Pedro Martinez's numbers were in 2008.
  2. The Failing New York Times wrote: Harvey’s earned run average for 2017 ended up at 6.70, the highest single-season figure in Mets history for any pitcher who made at least 15 starts.
  3. Mets may try to lock up Jacob deGrom long term Mike Puma wrote: An industry source confirmed Thursday that the Mets may explore the possibility this winter of a deal that would buy out the right-hander’s remaining arbitration years and extend club control for additional seasons. FanRag Sports first reported the possibility. The 29-year-old deGrom is set to hit the free-agent market following the 2020 season. But the two sides could negotiate a four- or five-year deal that would keep deGrom with the Mets beyond the next three seasons.
  4. I can't stand those guys. I've never watched their show, but I've heard their cackling coming from the TV when others in my household have had it on.
  5. Frayed Knot wrote: Reminds me of the upstate kids at college, many of whom had never heard of Yom Kippur but appreciated it because it got classes canceled for the day. That's how it was for me when I was in public school on Long Island. The Jewish holidays were my favorite because I'd have off from school without any religious obligation.
  6. But it's still the official American League record, isn't it?
  7. I knew that one of them had to be Butch Metzger (after your Rookie of the Year clue), but I had no idea which one.
  8. Maybe Terry can drop off a resume while he's in town.
  9. Oh! I wasn't aware of that. I thought they had gone back to alternating years.
  10. 2017 is the first time they ever appeared together for the Mets in the same season.
  11. I wouldn't be at all surprised.
  12. 6.60 ERA. Yikes. If Harvey pitches a nine-inning shutout tomorrow, he'll get his ERA down to 5.99. And he'd be the first Met to do so this year. The Mets are three games away from finishing their first season ever without a pitcher throwing a shutout.
  13. Oh, they're not considering dead guys? Klapsich didn't mention that.
  14. You really keep me honest! No, this one's an oversight. The lack of an update to the name of the Angels, however, is intentional.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: I imagine having been a backup catcher for the Yankees is as good a résumé enhancer for managerial aspirant as any. Geren, Joe Girardi, Jerry Narron, Joel Skinner ... Ralph Houk too, right?
  16. "A guy rescued from the Yankees" might be Charles Dillon _________
  17. Also, I know who the Rookie of the Year is that you hinted at, but I have no idea which of those given names belong to him.
  18. Don Robert DYER
  19. Crazy idea that certainly won't happen: Hire Alex Cora as a rookie manager and let Terry Collins be his bench coach.
  20. So how did Ventura do as a White Sox manager anyway?
  21. Okay, I see it now. There's also still a Clarence Edward __________ on the list, however.
  22. Looks like you missed this one: Benjamin Grimm wrote: Clarence Edward COLEMAN (Or did I get it wrong?)
  23. He was the guy I was rooting for to get the Mets job back in 2011. Is there any chance at all that he's related to Alan Hale? He also has experience as a Skipper.
