  3. Mike Puma wrote: The free-agent catching market is so thin the Mets already have a preferred option at the position. According to an industry source, the Mets are showing strong interest in Martin Maldonado, whose representatives convened with team officials this week at the general managers’ meetings. The 32-year-old Maldonado, who split last season between the Angels and Astros, lacks offensive pop — he posted a .627 OPS last season — but with the Mets placing an emphasis on starting pitching in 2019, he fits the description of somebody adept at handling a rotation, blocking balls in the dirt and throwing out base runners. Mets already have realistic target for a pressing need
  4. Anyone care to break this tie between YOU deSERVE THE START! and MATT OUTTA HELL ?
  5. I never paid much attention to Tebow, but I recall reading that he's "saving himself" for marriage. I can barely imagine how many opportunities he's had. Not only was he an NFL quarterback (which I believe makes it somewhat easy to get laid) but his publicly announced virginity must have induced many women to take on the challenge of being his first. I have to figure that either: 1. He's lying about his virginity. 2. He has an enormous amount of willpower. 3. He has an extraordinarily low sex drive. I see that at 31, he's still single.
  6. He's probably thinking about chili. For the record, his given name isn't "chili". It's "Charles Theodore Davis". I seem to remember that his nickname is short for "Chili Bowl", perhaps because of a haircut that he got? At least I think that that's the story that Tim McCarver told on Channel 9 back in the 1980s. If not, someone will have to explain the nickname methodology here.
  7. I like MATT OUTTA HELL. Harvey's posture, his expression, and that baseball mysteriously hovering in front of his face. I think it pretty well captures how Matt Harvey would look emerging from Hell.
  8. Does he have a client this year that the Mets might be in on? I doubt that he's trying to goad them into signing Bryce Harper...
  9. They would be wise, then, not to put him in a paper bag.
  10. From the New York Post: Mets kicking the tires on bringing back Asdrubal Cabrera In their effort to find a player who can play second base — either as a starter or reserve — and give the team a backup shortstop, club officials have met with the representative for veteran Asdrubal Cabrera, an industry source told The Post on Wednesday. From The Crane Pool Forum, December 2015: Okay, now let's talk about Asdrubal Cabrera

  12. Are you sure your votes registered? You have to click the Vote button... If you click some choices but then just click the Submit button for your comments, the votes get lost. The reason I ask is because there's only one vote for HERE WE WOE AGAIN and that's one that I voted for, so yours apparently didn't register.

  14. There's no specific criteria. It's just "the one you like best" whatever the reason.
  15. I think we may see better covers when we get to that 11-1 start in April. And then after that, well...

  19. From January 2018: Welcome Back Jay Bruce, The Trade Was Your Ticket Out
  20. Only four of the covers picture a player in a Mets uniform. For what it's worth, Daphne and Erika like BRUCE GLEE. Me, I voted for BRUCE ENCORE and THUMB ON DOWN.
