  1. I prefer the Walgreens cap to the one with the Capitol Building on it. Simpler is better. The ideal baseball cap has the initial letter(s) of the city the team represents. The Orioles should have a B. The A's should have an O. (At least as long as they remain in Oakland.) The Blue Jays should have a T. (You see where I'm going with this...)
  2. If they're 85% vaccinated then they probably have "herd immunity" among themselves, but they're still out and about mingling with other people. My guess is that those who are vaccinated but get sick anyway have probably had a high level of exposure. Maybe the players spent hours at a nightclub among the unmasked or something. Just speculation.

  4. Yes, he has. He could have insisted on talking about Qualcomm.
  5. The May version of Lindor is more appealing than the April version.
  6. Wow! How cool would it be if his name was Ghoryakhel? Missed opportunity by his parents there. That's a better name than Asdrubal! Maybe even better than Yennsey!
  7. No roster moves (yet) for McNeil and Almora? If they're unavailable the Mets' bench will consist of two catchers and no one else.

  9. I literally laughed out loud at seeing, for the second time in just a few days, that goofy-looking guy getting his shirt pulled off by a mob of teammates.
  10. My girlfriend is surprised that books about baseball even exist. She can't imagine what anyone could say about baseball.
  11. It's too bad Carrasco isn't ready to step in. I guess for now I'd go with Stroman, Walker, Peterson, Yamamoto, Reid-Foley. (With Lucchesi and Gsellman on stand-by?)
  12. =G-Fafif post_id=63796 time=1620659863 user_id=55] Willie Mays taking a 90th birthday lap in 2021 is the chronological equivalent of Babe Ruth hypothetically doing the same in 1985, Christy Mathewson in 1970, Walter Johnson in 1977, Lou Gehrig in 1993, Hank Greenberg in 2001, Mel Ott in 1999, Ty Cobb in 1976, Jackie Robinson in 2009, Gil Hodges in 2014, Roberto Clemente in 2024 (and Jacob deGrom in 2078).
  13. Well, obviously we have to hope that's accurate. We've all seen day-to-day take a turn for the worse plenty of times before, so who knows?

  18. I created this post just as a quick way to see these charts from 1962 through today, because I was curious to see, at a glance, in which seasons the Mets strayed the least from the .500 mark. Other than the weird season of 2020, the seasons with the least extreme swings were 1975, 2005, and 2011. I also noticed that there are only four seasons in which the Mets never dipped below .500: 1985, 1998, 2006, and 2007. In only one of those seasons did the Mets make the post-season, although they came very close in the other three. Here are the charts, for whatever infotainment they may provide: http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1962> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1963> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1964> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1965> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1966> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1967> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1968> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1969> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1970> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1971> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1972> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1973> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1974> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1975> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1976> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1977> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1978> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1979> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1980> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1981> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1982> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1983> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1984> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1985> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1986> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1987> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1988> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1989> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1990> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1991> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1992> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1993> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1994> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1995> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1996> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1997> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1998> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=1999> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2000> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2001> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2002> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2003> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2004> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2005> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2006> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2007> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2008> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2009> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2010> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2011> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2012> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2013> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2014> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2015> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2016> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2017> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2018> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2019> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2020> http://leaptoad.com/mets/above_below_500_graph.php?year=2021>

  20. I think I'm seeing a different set of commercials since I'm not in New York. A lot of "Big Pizza" and purple iPhones.
  21. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: And there are are lot reasons to ask, two of the best players on the team just had a fistfight in the middle of a game. Was there really a fistfight???
  22. Ooooh! A picture of a rat! I'd rather see Yamamoto than Lucchesi. We've seen enough of Lucchesi for a while.
  23. LAST CALL! All games played in April will be closing on Monday morning.
