  1. Maybe he'll be working in the ticket booth at Binghamton.
  2. =G-Fafif post_id=79461 time=1633621845 user_id=55] Your League Championship Series (serieses?) begin at 4:07 PM EDT today...
  3. It doesn't mention Quattlebottom specifically, but apparently he won't be the hitting instructor anymore but will stay in the organization. Whatever.
  4. Oh well. Now I guess they move on to Horshack.
  5. FINAL REMINDER that the remaining September games will close on Friday morning and the final set of Players of the Month for 2021 will be revealed. The three October games will close some time next week, and the Players of the Year will be revealed. And then, a few weeks from now, the seventh iteration of the Tabloid Cover Derby! (You may pause for a moment while you rein in your goosebumps.)
  6. Well, of course we first need to know who the POBO* is. I'm looking forward to watching that story develop. *An acronym that I think I first saw today, and I like it! President of Baseball Operations.
  7. Edgy MD wrote: Those are my conversations. In these conversations, the art and science of athletic personnel management becomes the map for a full and meaningful life. So you're saying we should hire E?
  8. I'm going to put my chips on the Mets hiring Billy Beane and him bringing in... Bob Melvin. (What? Did you think I was going to say Art Howe?)
  9. In the abstract, an experienced big league manager sounds like a better option. We did okay with Gil Hodges and Bobby Valentine and Terry Collins, but then again, not so much with Art Howe and Jeff Torborg and Jerry Manuel. So I don't know. At this point I'm not going to select a favorite, I'll just be an interested observer. I just hope that the guy they hire, whoever he is, wins a lot more games than he loses.

  11. I don't really care, as long as the Yankees get eliminated as soon as possible. If I were to pick a team that I hope will win the World Series, I guess I'll go with the White Sox only because I can't think of a reason to root against them. Maybe the Rays and Giants and perhaps the Red Sox would meet that criteria too.
  12. Few of them become popular though. Mariano Rivera is a notable exception, but that's because Yankee fans like people who electrocute dogs in their swimming pools.

  16. Voting for all remaining games that were played in the month of September will close on the morning of Friday, October 8. If you have any games that you still intend to vote for, please try to do so over the next seven days. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/warning.gif> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Cast your votes now!
  17. I'm among several who did pretty well with the Pete Alonso home run total.

  19. It occurred to me that if the Mets lure Billy Beane to Flushing, maybe he'd bring Bob Melvin along with him. And maybe he will, but I checked and Melvin is signed through 2021 with a club option for 2022.
  20. Yeah, I feel the same way. I remember being optimistic about Mickey Callaway because he was "smart". I won't be fooled again. When they hired Rojas, I just shrugged and said, "who knows?" Unless the next manager is someone I'm very familiar with (and that's unlikely) I probably won't have any opinion at all. It will be wait-and-see. My only opinion is that they should intentionally target a "sex creep" because that's worked well for them so far.
  21. I won't be sad if and when Luis gets fired, but a big part of the blame has to go to the loss of deGrom and the loss of Walker's effectiveness and whatever else went wrong with the pitching in the second half and the hitters never really stepping up.

  23. =Fman99 post_id=78904 time=1632998957 user_id=86] I really don't like to generalize, but I'm gonna throw this out there. Feel free to dispute this. Anyone who's ever broken their hand punching a wall is a fucking dumbass.
