metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 is it terrible unsurprising that a professional athlete who recovered from several surgeries in his career might've ended up with a bit of a self-medication problem...?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Having amps and Xanax in his system at the same time suggests he might have been caught in a Michael Jackson-like spiral.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Impossible to despise as a Phillie when the Phillies were still the Phillies we despised at MFY levels, and that's the highest praise that can be directed toward a Phillie.I'm really surprised I have as yet to post on this thread. I must have been conflating this in my memory with a text to my brother.I'm sure I have told you all how the Phils are my #1 Mets nemesis, way above the Yankees (everyone in this division as well as the Cards, Cubs, Giants, & Dodgers are higher on my hate list than the Yanks), But like you Greg, impossible not to like and respect this guy. And be a fan of his. I was VERY bummed out when I heard the news. He inspired the Yankees to declare night games to be pre-emptively rained out at 2:00 in the afternoon based on a forecast calling for 100% chance of Halladay. LOL!

The report by the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office also showed that Halladay's blood alcohol content was .01. The antidepressant fluoxetine (Prozac) was also detected.Frayed Knot wrote:And this news comes on the same day that Tom Petty's autopsy reveals he died from an overdose of a variety of prescribed medications.Major suckage. And some of those drugs mentioned take days to work their way out of your system. I hope they added that.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 When someone has been self medicating for years they become aware of their tolerances be it Opium, Xanax etc. When you walk a line, by your own choice, you very well may fall.It gets to a point where I truly wonder if the word "accidential" applies to many overdoses.God Bless
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Nice story. A nice gesture by Charlie Manuel.
