ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Cespedes is a diva who is constantly hurt.? Maybe
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Digging holes in wet turf with your knee was in the scouting report.Just saw that, never mind.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Dump Asdrubal Cabrera, insert Amed Rosario.

I'd be curious to add up all his days on the DL, or, since its the Mets, days he should have been on the DL, but wasn't. It seems like he's been on the shelf a third of the time he's been here. When he's on, we all know he's a monster. But he can't seem to stay on the field.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 And other teams knew this so they traded him or passed? But not the Mets. Did you see the divot he took out of the turf with his knee??It was a monster divot! Terrible divot. Sad. 41Forever wrote:I'd be curious to add up all his days on the DL, or, since its the Mets, days he should have been on the DL, but wasn't. Perhaps a member of your staff can work on that tomorrow morning. In the meantime, were you anti-Ces signing or just 'starting to see?'things that aren't/weren't really there?

All the way. Am I the only one who thinks the guy is injury prone?

Guest 41Forever Guests Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Seriously, is there something beyond a post about Cespedes' injury rate that I did to offend you? I certainly don't mean to offend anyone.

When he's on, we all know he's a monster. But he can't seem to stay on the field. It's right about two weeks shy of two years since the deal that brought him here and since then he's played 233 games as a Met.And while that's less than the 300+ that you'd want out of nearly two complete seasons, most of what he's missed is due to the injury that caused him to miss 37 straight games this year. Other than that, there's been one other DL stint and that was the bare minimum of 14 games missed in 2016.Today was a day off on account of his ugly dive Saturday plus maybe the day game, to read much beyond that is an over reaction. And while he has been here he's putting up a .282/.346/.545 line (better than his overall career rates) with 57 HRs and 110 XBH in what has been essentially 1.5 seasons. If you want to rue what we got out of that deal and everything that comes with it be my guest, but I won't be joining you. I stand corrected. The trade got us to the World Series, and I don't have any regrets. And as I said, I was very supportive of re-signing him. I saw the story on Mets Blog about him leaving the game Saturday with a sore hip and Terry's quote about sitting out today and thought he was going to be day-to-day again.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Well everybody is day-to-day technically. He hit the ground hard Saturday night, sat today as a result of that and the old DGANT. He'll likely be in tomorrow. Or maybe not, who knows. But players are going to get hurt, it happens.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 And Céspedes' hip didn't give up no 13 runs.I think there's going to be more to this. When does a guy slide and his knee end up getting under the turf? I'm calling groundskeeper error.

That had to hurt. He's on his fourth team -- granted, traded once for a future Cy Young winner and then for a future Rookie of the Year -- and none of the teams that are traditionally big spenders topped the Mets, so I was wondering aloud. Again, very happy to be wrong. When you made the comment about my staff and, "Politicians, lol" I wondered if there was something going on beyond a baseball discussion. That's all. Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 I feel like Cespedes has ben a huge disappointment this year, still struggling with the same injuries he suffered last year. The lineup hasn't been terrific altogether but Cespedes has also had pretty good guys hitting in front of and behind him all year but is sitting there with fewer than 20 RBI.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Maybe he'll get his SHaM Wow in the mail today and go on one of those tears. He's due.41Forever wrote:When you made the comment about my staff and, "Politicians, lol" I wondered if there was something going on beyond a baseball discussion.
