Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Not to imply that the Braves haven't been earning their hits ... but do they EVER hit stuff at people?Everything they put their bats on, whether hard hit or not, is between fielders, in front of fielders, just beyond fielders etc.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Maybe we can improve on this four-hit total against Eric O'Flaherty.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Four walks, but Dickey was all over the place.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 And Cabrera hacks at pitch one. What in the world?
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 And with that, Bruce grand kaboomaslams...
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Author Posted May 3, 2017 Wow, KABOOM AGAIN.If only the bullpen had not shat upon the mound so greatly.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Good thing we didn't spin off Bruce for the proverbial bag of balls during the off-season. We be practically winless without him.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Just two thoughts.1. Was that the real Matt Harvey out there? He had little on his pitches and just looked depressed or something.2. If we really do suck you may not get more in a trade for Jay Bruce than now. Just sayin if we move to sale time.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Felt like this game was worse than Sunday's in some ways.I'm afraid Smokey needs a few weeks in AAA to work out his shit. Didn't stick around to hear what external factor Harvey will blame this one on but this outing was the kind of thing I would have expected if he hadn't fooled me first by starting the season off so acceptably okay.I admit I was watching Saul on DVR when Bruce connected, that's how bad it was from my perspective.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 On the post game show, Nelson Figueroa said Harvey had good velocity and had 4 different pitches working, but didn't have command of them. And he kept saying it over and over, like he is getting paid by the word. But one other thing he said that was interesting was that all of his pitches were on the outside half of the plate, he never went inside and the Braves were looking there every at bat. But he never questioned why the catcher didn't set up differently and kept calling for the outside pitches.Later

He fouled some off but even those were liners he was either a bit early or late on and he was spitting on those offerings that were off the plate. That his first AB ended in a long HR was the least surprising outcome of the night.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 His command did not look like him at all. Nor did his motion.Meanwhile, Dickey's command was non-existent. His ball had movement, but he was clearly laboring out there and wasn't close to spotting anything, resorting to throwing first-pitch fastballs to try and get ahead by the third. The Mets should've stood there and forced him to throw strikes and let him sink himself.I realize the book goes out the window with a knuckleballer, but ...

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Well, for me deGrom is now the head cheese but fan mileage may vary.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I agree. DeGrom is now the ace of the staff.
Guest cooby Guests Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 That's what I think too but who knows what Harvey thinks
