Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 The Mets head down the turnpike to take on the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phils join the Mets in a four-way tie for first at 3-3. (Atlanta's extra-inning win over the Mets in Game Two is their only win so far, so they remain alone in last at 1-5.) Jerad Eickhoff, a man who grew up with a name that either kills you or makes you stronger, defends for the Phils. Yes, it is spelled "Jerad."Righthander Eickoff gave up two runs in 6 2/3 innings against the Reds his first time out. He's not a star, but he's really steady, and while he doesn't scream #1 starter! at you, he may have the best line of any of your rotation fixtures at the end of the year, like last year, when he went 11-14 with a 3.65 ERA.Not particularly strong against lefties though. There's that. Maybe Neil Walker wakes up tonight.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Terry was apparently unconvinced by Lenny Dykstra's graph. (See Rico Brogna's thread.)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 10, 2017 Author Posted April 10, 2017 It seems to me that five-into-four is easy. Among left, center, right, and first, you have four positions to play five guys at, and each of them can play 80% of the time (more or less), achieving the status of "regular."Of course, that would mean Wilmer Flores' first base-against-lefties at bats would have to be taken more at second and third. But Walker and Reyes are certainly not making that an unthinkable option.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I'd like a wide-awake offense, please.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 This inning isn't going to convince anyone that Grandy ought to be the center fielder this or any night.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Dear Lord. Can we get Conforto in there most days?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 The DP helped, but Jacob's looking a bit deFective.

Up to Doodoo here to tie it back up
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Bruce with a basket catch.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Apparently the team put, 'Strike Out a Whole Fucking Lot' on the game plan for tonight.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Just tuning in. Gah, gotta go w/Comcast. 2-1 Phils. Mid 5th.Bruce went yard, huh? We need the real Bruce this season. That would be nice.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 7 NYM HRs this season ... 6 of them with bases empty. It's good to know some things never change.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 Hate to say it, but somebody besides Reyes needs to be playing third right now.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 The Mets need to dominate these early season divisional games. This was/is a chance to get a jump on the Nats but being given away.Reyes? lost. Does T.J. Rivera play 3b?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 I think. But play it well? I'm with you, though.Between the offensive desert and the general sloppiness, this game has a weirdly old-time, Soilmaster-Special quality to it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Good. First and third and no out. Let's get deGrom off the hook. And then put the Eick on it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Lucas Duda: All-time MLB leader in no-pitch intentional walks?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 I'm almost at my d'Arnie needs to go point.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 7th inning. 3 hits! This is getting ridiculous. We got something going here though. 1st & 3rd. And Walker ties it with a sac fly!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 We're really good at hitting pop-ups.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 That was a weird way to end an inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Has this something to do with the WBC?
