Guest 41Forever Guests Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I know its just the second exhibition game and all, but Duda's aches just bring flashbacks. I just don't know if he'll ever stay healthy.Has Bruce ever played first? Who is the realistic backup, Wilmer?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 NYT reports Duda is receiving cortisone shots in both hips.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Jeez Louise, he's like my grandad already.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Somebody hand Conforto a first baseman's glove.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 Wilmer's the backup, but things change when the starter isn't taking a day off, but is knocked out. They could end up with Flores, but also with Bruce, with Conforto, with Wright, or Smitty. But it's probably still most likely gonna be Duda. Although I imagine somebody on Twitter at this very moment is typing, "I TOLD you we shoulda resigned Loney!"
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I swear I believe I'm better overall health than Dua even at nearly twice his age. Granted, there is no freakin' way I can handle a 90+ fastball anymore.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 They had Bruce taking grounders at first today. He said he's ready to play 1st if he has to but he'd rather see Duda return to good health, which was nice to say.I like what I saw in Smith today. I think if Duda is all washed up already Smith will step in and step up. I'd rather see Duda have a career year tho, as I say every season.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I don't know about Loney, but signing, say, Mike Napoli instead of Blevins-- righthanded 1B/corner OF depth-- might not have been a terrible way to go.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 The team has no shortage of in-house options. Besides, Mike Napoli stole Danny Muno's girlfriend. He's dead to me.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 That was Napoli back behind the away bleachers? Aw, man... you do NOT do that to a brother T-Bird.I mean, we also have/had other in-house lefty options.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 I also can't believe that Napoli would have signed in a place where he wasn't pretty much assured of being an everyday starter (or that the Mets would have paid him enough to eschew other such offers). He's also played all of 50 innings in corner OF spots - although perhaps oddly all at the age of 33 in 2015
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 Any of the above including Duda.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2017 Posted February 27, 2017 I think we'll see a lot of Wilmer over there, and let's hope Smith keeps raking in Vegas because you might see him sooner than later.Just stay away from the buffet tables, Dominic.
