Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 In a move that should be a surprise to no one, but will nonetheless take some getting used to, Mets officials have announced a new name for their Spring Training home. Tradition Field, formerly Digital Domain Park, formerly Tradition Field, formerly Thomas J. White Stadium, will henceforth (or until the money changes hands a few more times) be known as First Data Field.Gary Carter Stadium, man. It would be a license to print money.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 well, this seems like more of a license to print money to be honest.10 year deal supposedly.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I thought this was a clever play on words about Lucas Duda in the series of player predictions. At least you had Who playing the proper position.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 23, 2017 Author Posted February 23, 2017 well, this seems like more of a license to print money to be honest.Well, yes, I'm offering a more out-of-the-box (and more palatable and honorable) way to obtain money to those who pursue money. Psychology.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 I guess it depends on your definition of palatable and honorable. Advertising versus trying to turn your dead alum's name into gold by selling it.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 i thought the first data was named b-4?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Remember, no sex on the First Data.

They're not going to ax a revenue stream, and working from there, any "Maybe we can make the money by leveraging Carter" is mining him for money. Especially after the fact. It'd be different if it was 5 years ago and they decided to name it that, especially if they bought out the naming rights contract.
