Oh. You mean the one that's 6% less ugly than the original hideousness?

Still better than the trapezoidal mess at Marlins park.

The latest story has it that, rather than being rivals, the Jeter & Jeb groups are now joining forces in an attempt to become the next Marlins owner(s).
Earlier stories had them as two of three groups trying to be the buyer. The third, now second, group remains anonymous thus far.

Marlins are trying real hard to pick someone I'll hate MORE than current ownership.

It seems that team purchases these days aren't about who has the most smackeroonies, but who can best embody the league's interests, and so putting together a team represented by political connectedness, media connectedness, minority representation, and fan credibility seems to be the first aim, and ultimately the lion's share of the money is put up by the banks.

The Bush/Jeter effort is in fact the winning group to negotiate for buying the Marlins.
Price and details and such still to be worked out.

And Jeffrey Loria is making something like an 823% profit on the sale off his initial investment.

Don't be telling me that owning a team isn't a money-making operation.

Can Jeb! be president and President Trump take over the Marlins?

America would have to at least throw in a couple of minor leaguers to even that out.

I'll happily throw in pretty much all of the administration. Anybody but Secretary Chao. She's boss.

I guess it's only fair that Jeter get a chance to own the Marlins. After all, the Marlins owned his Yanquis in the 2003 World Series.

A couple days after the Jeb/Jeter group was said to be the winner of the 'Buy the Marlins' sweepstakes, Rob Manfred declared that things were NOT necessarily over.
And now it seems that a billionaire has popped his head into things and may well trump the earlier bid.
Billionaire Charles Dean Metropoulos, whose buyout firm controls Hostess Brands, the maker of Twinkies, is interested in making an offer for the team, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. Worth $2.4 billion according to Forbes, he has long coveted buying a sports team for sons Evan and Daren.

I just figured with a name like Metropoulos, he might want to change the team name to the 'Supermen'.

This is getting comical.

I definitely have more Marvel (and classic cinema) than DC in my DNA. When I hear "Metropolis" I don't first think of Superman's city. I think of Fritz Lang's silent classic.

Current rumors have the Bush/Jeter team now slipping into 2nd place behind a group led by Tagg (sonn off Mitt) Romney and his celebrity investor, Tom Glavine.
MLB rules require a certain amount of up-front money and less of it as borrowed debt and the Tagg-team appears to have the edge in that matter leaving the Jeter group as Numbah Two

This soap opera continues to spin.
Jeb Bush is dropping out of his bid to buy the Marlins even amidst reports that the price is dropping far below the original rumored $1.4 billion.
This leaves Mr. Jet-ah scrambling for other financial partners and the door a bit more open for other groups to jump in.

Jetes and Jebs reportedly disagreed about who would be the controlling partner, an issue that can come up in these purchases when the real majority owner is "The Bank." Still, you'd think they'd have hammered this out earlier.

No one is confirming anything yet, but there is apparently an agreement to sell the Marlins to a group led by "NY Financier" Bruce Sherman
Sherman would be "the control person" of the team with minority investor (one of 15 say reports) Derek Jeter to run the baseball operations.
Price is said to be $1.2 Billion

That means we'll be seeing TV shots of him (if not interviews) in the owner's booth on every single telecast, both when the Mets play them and all nationally telecast games.
The fucker is harder to get rid of than a condo in Florida.
