metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Good game on here , tied at 1 Jessica > Cal
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Boston takes the lead on a HR form a guy I had never ever heard of ......obviously I don't watch them at all
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Andrew Benintendi. Rookie just called up partway through the year and even then missed some time with injuries ... but he's expected to be a star so you're probably going to know him.I could have done without the ridiculous overturn of Chisenhall's slide at 2nd base (safe changed to out) which is the type of "bad" call that NO ONE had in mind when replay was instituted.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Yeah, liked the somewhat testy back and forth between the booth and Ripken on that
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Kipnis with a HR and the Indians are back on top 3-2. Ernie really needs to work on a HR call
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 And another solo HR and it's 4-2 Indians
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I was going to say 'Welcome to American League Baseball' (after the Indians went back to back to back) but we Met fans really can't say that this year considering the type of games we played most of the season.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Christ , another solo shot , this time Boston , 4-3 Indians
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I thought I was watching a home run derby.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Look at Francona going to Andrew Miller in the 5th inning in an attempt to calm things down!!Only once all year did he appear prior to the 7th, either while on the Indians or back with the Yanx.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Kipnis with a single and it's 5-2 Indians
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 AL baseball to be sure, 10:18 PM and it's all of the middle of the 6th inning.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 I'm done, can'r stay awake .........it was a good game hours ago
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Fman99 wrote:AL baseball to be sure, 10:18 PM and it's all of the middle of the 6th inning.Yeah, well we Met fans can't complain about that too loudly either. This year the Mets played barely 40% of their games (72) in under 3 hours, just 34 games (21%) that came in under 2:50, and just six were shorter than 2:30.And to think that 2-1/2 hours used to be the average time for a game.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I think Papi's safe. 8th inning, Papi on 2nd, 1 out. 5-4 seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians".OE: pinch runner for Ortiz.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Bogaerts, with a very pathetically defensive at-bat, goes down on a checked swing and the tying run is stranded.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Indians win. Last out was more ump crap, but it was a borderline checked swing that, even after seeing it in slo-mo, could have been called either way.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 About that called last strike- Red Sox fans have developed whining to a new art form. The sportscasters for the Connecticut TV stations (I think they only hire Sox fans) were a show unto themselves last night and this morning.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I didn't think it was a strike in real time, but 'upon further review' the 1st base ump was correct, he went far enough.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Rained out in Bawston today. Re-sked for Monday at 6:00
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 I've been pulling Bogaerts rookie cards. I'm gonna start putting them back.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Cal, when you make a bad observation and comment, don't try to cover over it with more bad observations and comments. That time Bogaerts did nothing wrong.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 So far, 52% of all runs this postseason are on HRs. As kool as that is it's not as much fun, at least to me, as watching a team work their way around the bases. 4-2 Indians @Fenway. 8th.OOOOO, nice catch by Mookie in right.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 As Steve Rushin of Sports Illustrated pointed out in a recent column, if it wasn't for sports we wouldn't know anyone named Mookie.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Papi, as the tying run on 2nd, is removed for a pinch-runner in bottom 8th.If they fail to win this game it'll be his final appearance.

Indians advance. BoSox dun.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Can't those photogs get the fuck out of the way so it's Papi & the fans? Jeeze.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Zvon wrote:Can't those photogs get the fuck out of the way so it's Papi & the fans? Jeeze.Yup. That's on the Sox or MLB to control that.
