Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 So assume for purposes of this exercise that we lock up one or the other of the WC spots and will play next week against either of the only teams still in it at this point, SF or StL, for the right to meet the CubsWhich do you prefer to see? ... a question which, in my mind, suggests who you think will be easier to beat but you can use whatever preferences or reasoning you want.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I would rather take my chances against the sinking ship of the Giants. They have struggled since the All-Star break and their bullpen implodes almost on a daily basis.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 the NL Wildcard game will be Wed Oct 5th.I'd rather the Cardinals. both teams hav already lined up their best pitcher, and I'd rather face Carlos Martinez. Madison Bumgarner is better AND left-handed which I think is bad for the Mets.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I saw the Cardinals and wasn't impressed.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I have no preference. I'll be elated to just be in after all this team hasgone through and endured this year.

Every game we advance is an extra Mets game, and even one extra Mets game is extra Mets. And high octane games to boot. To be where we are now is ridiculous (in the far out way). I'm gonna sit back and enjoy this however long it lasts.Alls I know is I don't want to face Bumgarner.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 Oddly the Giants are 7-9 in Bumgarner starts since the end of June.Sure, at times he pitched well and the team lost anyway but not always -- his ERA is 4.00+ ERA for Aug & Sept -- and it's been 9 starts since he went beyond the 7th inning in part because he's been working with some pretty high pitch counts despite only going 5 or 6 many nights.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Don't want to face MadBum with everything on the line. But yes, given what this team has been through, bonus baseball = awesome.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Do we factor travel into it? If it's Like, if it's Mets @ Cards that means a trip from St. Louis to Chicago from Wednesday to Friday. low-key. I don't think I have a preference.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Author Posted October 1, 2016 So what we want to root for now* is for the Giants and Cards to tie for the 2nd WC and have them spend Bumgarner & Carlos Martinez against each other on Monday while we sit back and wait for Wednesday.* why is this just now occurring to me?!?!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Give me the Giants. Cards remind me of the MFYs in post season.
