Neil Walker, in perhaps his last month as an active Mets player, won his first Player of the Month Award in August.

Bartolo Colon is the Pitcher of the Month for the fifth time, matching a total attained by John Maine. R.A. Dickey was a ten-time winner. Johan Santana won nine times, and Pedro Martinez and Jacob deGrom have won six times each.

Jeurys Familia, the pitcher who made us all forget Brian Stokes, has won his eleventh Reliever of the Month award, putting him far ahead of anyone else. He earned 5.95 points in August as a reliever, putting him ahead of Addison Reed, with 4.05 points and Hansel Robles, who finished a close third with 4.03.

Kelly Johnson is the Bench Player of the Month for the second time this season, and the third time overall. Nobody has ever won this title four times. Johnson joins other three-time winners Fernando Tatis, Daniel Murphy, Jordany Valdespin, and Eric Campbell. Johnson earned 3.60 points in August games in which he wasn't in the starting lineup. The runner up for bench points awarded in August was Curtis Granderson, with 1.74 points.

It's hard to believe that Cespedes hasn't been the player of the month more than once. He has as many honors as Mike Cameron.

Cespedes finished second in April (0.83 points behind Michael Conforto, who used to be pretty good), third in May (2.00 points behind Noah Syndergaard and 1.95 behind Steven Matz), sixth in June (4.62 points behind Jacob deGrom), fourth in July (4.46 points behind Wilmer Flores) and eighth in August (5.53 points behind Neil Walker).

For the season so far, counting September games, he's one of two players who is in strong contention for Player of the Year.
