Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 The schedule through the remainder of the season supposedly favors the Mets as compared to those teams we're fighting against for WC spots ... but not this weekend it doesn't, cuz while we're hosting the NatsCards travel to Cincy for the weekendPirates host BrewersDodgers host PadresMarlins at Cleveland and Giants at Cubs (for four games, started last night) will be tough series for those teams.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Anything but a sweep here probably puts the already longshot division out of reach.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Makes me think the Mets shouldn't have chosen last night to rest the big Yo. Games against the Marlins are worth twice as much money in the standings at this point. They're the only team still in the Wild Card race that the Mets have left on their schedule. That's the team you've got to be stacking your lineup against.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Giants lost to the Cubs (again) this afternoon so we've already gained a half-game on the WC ... of course so has everyone else but we'll ignore that little fact for nowSFG, who had the best record in baseball at the All-Star Game (56-33), have the worst record post-ASG as this loss drops them to 16-29 since the break and 72-62 overall They went from up 6.5 on the Dodgers to now 2.5 in back all while the Dodgers were Kershaw-lessSomeone cue Petty's Free Fallin'

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 The other contenders lost. Yeah!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Or, y'know, put another way... everyone else did us a favor. And the Mets couldn't capitalize.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Yeah, when worrying about 3-4 other teams plus yourself these favors aren'tgoing to present themselves often so big blown opportunity in my book.
