De Aza gets it done.

Gary blows the call.

Only for a moment. He reversed himself pretty quickly.

Intentionally walking Grandy the way he's swinging suggest Mackanin ain't reading his advance scouting reports.

But who among us isn't tempted to try to get a backup veteran catcher to hit into a double-play?

DeAza has been pretty impressive lately. If I rip him when he sucks I have to tip my cap when he excels.

WOW!

Kelly PH GRANNY!

The Mets have now hit more home runs at Citi Field this season than they had in any single season since the ballpark opened. #LGM

Kelly Johnson hits the Mets 10th pinch hit grand slam in franchise history. First since Ike Davis on April 5, 2014 vs the Reds.

Teams they may gain on tonight:
Washington lost 9-4 in extras to Colorado.
Miami losing 1-0 in the 8th to San Diego.
St. Louis losing 3-2 to Oakland in the 8th.

Teams they mayn't gain on tonight:
Pittsburgh ahead 9-6 over Milwaukee in the 7th.
San Francisco up 1-0 over Atlanta in the 3rd.

Looking like a good day to gain some ground.

Noah Syndergaard now has 21 wins in his first 50 big league games, tying him with Tom Seaver for the third most in Mets history.

The Mets have scored 76 runs in their last 12 games with 22 home runs in that span.

The Mets' pitching staff now have 50 double-digit strikeout games this season, five shy of the 2015 Mets ' franchise record.

The Mets are now 13-4 vs. the Phillies in their last 17 games at Citi Field.

Cant assure the validity of all of those^. Just plucking them off twitter.

Games like this one are very satisfying ... and very frustrating at the same time.
After all those games of failing to get even a measly hit against non-descript pitchers and losing by a run or two. And tonight they get a bushel full on a Syndergaard night when they've got at least three straight games ahead of them with untested pitchers.

This part^

Can the Mets do what has to be done? They've been relying on the long ball and getting it. Can they sustain this?
Maaaan, it would be something to see.

So your upcoming Mets starters ...
Sunday: Gsellman
Monday: Montero

Yes it was! Go Mid Atlantic! That NY team is the one that beat our local team (Keystone) for the MA championship.
