But once the floodgates were opened for the Martinezes and O'Neills, its hard not to be overly cynically about whom the Yankees now install in their version of a HOF.It would be one thing if it was done all along, with names like Hank Bauer, Lou Piniella, Roy White, Frank Crosetti, Tommy Henrich, and even players whom made the actual Hall through the back door like Earle Coombs, Tony Lazzeri and Joe Gordon, etc but prior to the last decade MP had been more or less reserved for the "elite" or "in memoriaum tributes" in franchise history.

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 Eh, I see a lot of differences in the honors. I.e. Number retirements get bigger non-team specific news coverages, etc

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2016 Author Posted August 23, 2016 The numbers 31 as a Met and 24 as a Mariner were not officially retired until this summer.Despite Griffey Jr in 2013 and Piazza, also in 2013, being inducted into their respective team's Halls in previous years.Either way, doesn't make much difference with Boggs as an answer since the MFYs haven't honored him in either fashion (retired number or MP plaque).

Do retired numbers count here? Because I think they do according to the original post, but then your response to the Rickey Henderson and Wade Boggs guesses indicates that retired numbers don't count.

Hence all of the franchises who do not have one do not count in these questions.Franchises without such honors: Cubs, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Marlins (whom, with the retirement of #24 in Seattle, along with the Nationals are the only teams with no non-Robinson official retired numbers), Pirates, Rockies, Athletics, Rays, Tigers and White Sox.
