Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) At least that's the plan.Mets right-hander Bartolo Colon will oppose Rockies left-hander Jorge De La Rosa in a battle of rotation elder statesmen. Colon, who earned the win in the second game of a doubleheader against the Cardinals on Tuesday, will be starting on three days rest for the first time since 2005. The 43-year-old is not only the only pitcher older than 28 in the New York rotation but also the oldest player in baseball.Prior to Saturday's game, the Mets will retire the number 31 worn by recent Hall of Fame inductee Mike Piazza, who played for the team from 1998-2005. Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 I didn't think Ruggiano could fall into my bad graces so quickly after such a phenomenal effort on that drive in the gap. Well, not bad graces. He just canceled the good buzz I had.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 we could probably get a lot for Addison Reed
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 I dig the 31 patch. Having a big one on the cap is typical overkill, but in this case I like that too. I might be able to afford the cap.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 And just when you thought it was safe to go back to believing they might hit a little ... the pitcher with the near-6 ERA working on a high pitch count suddenly settles in and retires 7 straight NYM batters, most of them on weak pop-outs.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 13 in a row down with nothing even resembling something that coulda, maybe, might be a hit during that stretch.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Bastardo!Meanwhile, the Rox check swing into hits.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Does lil 'd really think it's wise to replant himself from behind the plate to the outside for the outside pitch? Who teaches this shit?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Nice block by d'Arnaud. None of that backhand shit.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 And nice inning by bubblebutt.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Isn't Gonzalez Germaine a former Met?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Ha. Flores goes kaBOOM into a fans glove, a fan who may have been hanging over too far.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Oh man. They call the HR fan interference. Flores out. Oh maaan.
