G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Get the Prince of Lightness on this ASAP: The Mets have a day game, and nobody's ever been better in day games than Jacob deGrom, who carries a 934-2 record in 1 o'clock starts into this assignment against the Rockies this afternoon. Or some insane number like that. Southpaw Tyler Anderson, who does not appear in a GEICO commercial every 15 minutes, goes for the Rox.The Mets win only the odd games (of course they do), so they're a lock.

I keep wondering why Wilmer doesn't get a few starts over there (or did before Neil broke out of his two-month slump and will now never not get three hits in any game he plays).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Colorado is playing good ball, but they have a lot of ground to make up. This can be the series that pushes them to decide what they are.Is Reyes possibly available as a pinch runner?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I wonder why Wilmer doesn't get to play the same position everyday.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Cespedes out with a sore quad again. Playing with 23 guys today.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 He looked like a distinctly compromised individual last night. A healthy and nimble leftfielder might have caught that foul pop in the ninth and the Mets might have emerged victorious.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 The #15 ranked overal starter vs. 139th ranked. Go Mets.

Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 De Aza. Sigh. Why is he taking at-bats away form Conforto? deGrom is up there getting better hacks that De Aza just did.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Well, Shme Aza's gone .333 / .484 / .500 // .984 in July, so I imagine Terry is looking for anybody who is hot.The other one who you might want to insert Conforto for is Lagares, starting against the righty.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 So many wasted opportunities. Do we lead the league in LOB?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Feel like we should be ahead 9-0.It goes to show you how far planning gets you when you consider that our offense is bargain basement afterthought James Loney being driven in by bargain basement afterthought Ren Rivera.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 (edited) So many wasted opportunities. Do we lead the league in LOB?Probably not* because we don't get all that many guys on in the first place. But I'm sure we lead in the percentage of runners left on which is even worse.Mets had 35 PAs w/RiSP in the Cardinal series while the Cards had 18, yet runs scored in the three games were exactly the same and we lost twice, both by one run. Not a coincidence.* oe: Mets are right about league average Edited July 28, 2016 by Guest

Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I like vest jerseys, but I don't like the Rockies' vests. Whenever I see them, they're wearing the black t-shirts under the black vests. And the piping around the arm holes -- just doesn't look right.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 HEY YOU BUMS! SCORE SOME RUNS!Give deGrom some support you knuckleheads.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 To further the point, tops in the NL at LOBs are the Marlins, who put a lot of guys on but struggle to score them because they hit few HRs except for Stanton, and the Cubs who are near the top in runs scored despite their high-LOBster quotient as a function of putting so much traffic out there in the first place.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Hey guys the Mets wasted a leadoff double
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 And halfway through this game the Mets are a whopping 1-for-5 w/RiSP (which actually raises their avg) and, as has been happening a lot lately, that one didn't even score a run.John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote:Hey guys the Mets wasted a leadoff doubleHere's the stat I want to see: Pct of times we've scored when the leadoff guy gets on.Digging around the interwebs I've found that league norms are around 35-40%. I have no idea what the '16 NYM pcts are but it seems like it's around 10%
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 On the bright side, deGrom is filthy today. At about 90 pitches through six innings, so he's probably going to need some help from the pen. Insurance runs, please!
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 This lack of scoring is hard to watch, and often Results in Squandered Pitching.
