Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 1:10 start, Matz vs Jose UrenaArena is a 24 y/o Dominican RH making his 2nd start of the season after being recalled from AAA post-ASB. He started in the minors but it's been mostly relief (37 G/10 GS) since his ML debut in April 2015 We let Fernandez weasel out of some jams last night, but you can at least partially write that off to him being Jose Fernandez. No such excuses today.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Stinky Fish steal back a run![crossout:3bsmj0z1]4-0[/crossout:3bsmj0z1] 3-0 Mets I never knew Mattingly was such a whiner.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I think the key to retiring Giancarlo Stanton is to throw strikes and tell him not to swing.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 Nice to see a no-drama save by Jerry Family.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 The length of Hechavarria's 'hit' there to end the game was shorter than the name banner on the back of his jersey.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 shockingly effective start for Matz, nice lil rally there to put it away. good game to listen to while half napping in the AC
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Nice to win one without a HR being hit.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 And the Padres just jacked two solo HRs in the 8th to tie up the Nats 6-6

So NOW DB decided it was Papelbon time but let's just say things didn't get a whole lot better: Line Out - Walk - K but PB so the batter reached - RBI Single - Single - Infield Single - 2-RBI DoubleHe was then yanked so Y. Petit could get the final out before, y'know, something bad happened, but then the Nats went down 1-2-3 in the bottom half and the Pads had a 10-6 win in a game they trailed 6-4 entering the 8thSo an overall good weekend for the good guys, losing only the game to Fernandez while picking up a game on Miami and also on Washington while they were playing a weaker team.btw, 3 more hits for Muffy including 2 doubles plus a Sac Fly
