Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 eh, get rid of the challenges all together. Leave it to the umps discretion and let managers argue their case. Supposedly we liked the managers coming out and yelling as it added drama or something, so this way preserves that while still gets the calls right.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Yeah, the challenge should go (and I think it eventually will). Have a fifth umpire at HQ on the monitors and when he/she wants to look at something send an electric shock to the manager's cerebral cortex and notify the crew chief that a play is under review.Today was a prime example of a free second review. The umps had nointention of reviewing it until Queen Donny nudged them towards it.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 That was a fun game, a good series and this has been a great homestand. I would love to finish it off by taking 3 or 4 from the Nats!
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I was at this game by myself as a result of unforeseen circumstances and scored it. I hadn't scored a MLB game in a long, long time. Sat by myself, paid attention to every at bat. Great fun. Last out made, I got up and left.Had no idea Mattingly was able to challenge the game-ending dp until I was in my car.
