Reed could have started the 9th. He hadn't pitched for a week and only pitched 2/3ds of the 8th but Terry has roles for his bullpen. Now he's lost Familia for tomorrow when he might really be needed.

Reed's spot in the lineup came up in bottom 8 so he had been PH'd for.
I would have gone to a non-Familia choice there: Robles, Henderson, somebody, but wouldn't have had Reed hit just so he could pitch the 9th.
And now Reed is available to close on Saturday so maybe it all works out.
