He's been a terrific spot starter so far. Also, a great attitude regarding his versatility:

Adam Rubin wrote:
"Really, whatever the role is -- starting, spot starting, relieving -- it doesn't matter," said Verrett, who allowed six hits and one walk while striking out six in a 91-pitch effort. "As long as we're winning ballgames, I'm happy to help."

I went to delete the post, but Monkfish had already posted in the thread. Good show.

Here's the original post.

Me llamo Logan Verrett. L to the V. You may have been surprised that I even made this team, what with Sean Gilmartin spending all of 2015 with the team. But you know who is rilly suprised? Miami and Philadelphia, that's who.

I'm supposed to be the guy you WANT to face, moonlighting in the Mets rotation as I am. And yet me and my two last names are mowing down National Leaguers like so much grass in the field. Heck, this jerk Edgy already put up a thread about me today, instead of folding his thoughts into this one.

I don't know whether I'll be in the bullpen or the rotation for most of this year. But I know that Baltimore and Texas are sorry they fumbled me away. And I don't expect I'll be somebody that folks will be lining up to face. What do you expect?

I predict he wins his first 2 outings as a replacement for deGrom.

Srsly I think we're going to see a lot of him this year. I think he'll make 15 or 20 starts, win 8, lose 5. Also a bunch of relief appearances with mixed results

That seems high...especially with Wheeler due back mid-season. Do you think his starts will be because of various injuries or a current starter meltdown?

I think that if his success continues, it opens up a lot of options come trade-deadline time. Not necessarily for Verrett leaving...but again, the Mets should have a lot (too many?) ML starters.

Yeah I'm not convinced deGrom or Harvey are actually healthy yet.

And if things look good, I think they'll try and go 6-man on us again, which will give him work.

Also you just can't predict baseball.

Spot start until the regulars return, then middle-man work.
Effective.

He's like those guys who Jim Brosnan wrote about in The Long Season who were always ready when the manager asked "Who in Hell wants to pitch?"

Seems to have locked into the sixth spot and will be pleased with him.
