"Lingering back soreness" will cause deGrom to skip Wednesday's scheduled start vs Miami sez the NYDN.
"We’re not going to take the chance,” manager Terry Collins said.
deGrom himself added; "It's quite a bit better today, I think we're going to err on the side of caution, though, this early in the season."

Logan Verrett is the probable replacement.

Might as well wait until it's at least 60° again. It will be eventually. No, really.

Did his wife have the baby yet? I imagine he's down in Florida now. Let him stay with the family for the week.
But no lifting the baby.

If it coincides with Babygrom at least he'll be able to relax about that.

Hoping warmer weather helps him

Ugh, this is a big concern , whats his name missed a lot of time last season with a lat pull/strain etc

I don't know if it was wishful thinking, but the storyline in his last spring training start or two was that his velocity was returning to normal.

Nobody believes the party line?

-Increased innings/workload last year pushed his timetable back so the lowered velocity is not surprising and almost expected.
-deGrom says his back feels 'much better' and they are erring on the side of caution?

I'm good with all of that until there's a reason not to be.

I mean, the opposing pitcher hit one 390 feet and though he finished the inning, he vamoosed. None of us really know and you can take the no-MRI thing as a positive but I still prefer bulletproof deGrom as opposed to "abundance of caution" deGrom.

Hope she doesn't pull a lat.

Any word yet? I feel like we should be pacing the floor.

Currently looking like a big N-O to the D-L for D-grom - according to Rubin

...Jacob deGrom is on track to return to the rotation on Tuesday in Philadelphia after missing his last turn.
DeGrom threw on flat ground Thursday and had a bullpen session on Friday in Florida. He is due to throw off flat ground again on Saturday, then throw another bullpen session on Sunday. Provided everything goes OK, deGrom can slot back into the rotation his next turn.

Terrific news!

And now, as if on cue, the story seems to change

Puma, NY Post: All indications point to [deGrom] receiving a stint on the disabled list, although he may throw again Sunday in Port St. Lucie before a final determination is reached.
On Friday, he threw an abbreviated 25-pitch side session, with a club source indicating his lat was still an issue.
DeGrom, according to manager Terry Collins, has undergone an MRI exam — the results of which the team never made public. But the fact deGrom was allowed to throw Friday indicates he is not dealing with a tear in the muscle
.

That also explains why deGrom remained in Florida for his throwing trial after the team had previously announced he was to re-join the team in Cleveland and do the bullpen session there.

Accounts suggesting that there was something wrong with the child, but the condition is improving, and he's expected to be released tomorrow.
