Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I got muscles on my muscles and you know I always hustles, but making consistent contact at the big league level... that's another story. On the other hand, with clamoring and motivation to deal off Alejandro De Aza, the waiver claim of Nieuwenhuis, Ceciliani sold off, and Nimmo working his way out of Bootsville, I'm suddenly a relevant figure!Hey, guess what! I found an article reporting that the Mets have signed me, titled "Honkballer Bernadina krijgt kans bij New York Mets"! Who'd have guessed that the Dutch word for outfielder was "honkballer"? That's funny! Did Horace P. Osterdonk byline that article?Know what else is funny? You and you and you trying to guess what my 2016 will look like. But that's what you're challenged to do!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 27, 2016 Author Posted February 27, 2016 Don't believe it. Until/unless Nimmo (a) gets healthy and ( makes a bold statement in AAA, Bernadina is the insurance policy for Granderson, Conforto, and De Aza at least. It's seemingly a hair too ambitious to expect that everything goes swimmingly with all three of them the first three months. He gets 71 at-bats, and hits safely in 20 of them. Three of those hits leave the park... seemingly, but one gets overturned on review. That disappointment is balanced by one of his two homers that aren't overturned being against a very chokey Nationals reliever, who ends up getting pulled and slamming his glove around the dugout as the cameras roll.

LOL!Whether or not he makes the club will depend on whether De Aza is traded before the season starts.Too early to tell.Later

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 I predict this Roger will be to the Mets what Steve J. Rogers is to Met fans at the CPF:That is, an occasional visitor capable of provocative and baffling contributions.-- Will connect for at least 1 home run within his first 6 plate appearances as a Met. Guaranteed!-- Will steal at least 5 bases before getting caught.-- Will commit an error so unexpectedly egregious it will challenge even the loyalest of supporters to question which team he's playing for. Roger That.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 That error may in fact be a Ben Johnson base running calamity.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted March 4, 2016 Posted March 4, 2016 Will not make the team this year. Isn't Eric Campbell ahead of him on the outfield depth chart? If deAza is traded, it will be for another backup outfielder, because no one will give prospects for him. And then Nimmo will be healthy.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 4, 2016 Author Posted March 4, 2016 I'd say, all things being equal, Campbell gets a call if Cespedes or maybe Lagares go down, but Bernadina gets the call if Granderson, Conforto, or De Aza go down, making Roger perhaps a half a notch ahead on the depth chart. All things, of course, won't be equal. Is Bernadina even in camp yet?
