Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 That would be nice.(I wonder who would get bumped upon his return?) If he does come back as expected, the Mets will have three lefties in their pen: Bastardo, Blevins, and Edgin. And potentially a fourth in Gilmartin.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Well, it does frequently come to that. But I guess I'm conjecturing where Edgin might land on the depth chart.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Certainly behind the guaranteed major league contractors that are Bastardo and Blevins, but ahead of Gilmartin (generalist/borderline starter), Alvarez (indifferently experienced), and Smoker (non-experienced).

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Greg Bird -- Yanx 1B prospect who filled in admirably when Teixeira was shelved for long portions last season [11 HRs in 157 ABs] -- will miss all of 2016 due to surgery to repair a torn shoulder labrum. He was probably destined to at least start the year in AAA while waiting for the inevitable Teixeira or ARod injury, but this certainly steals from the Yanx' depth even if not with their opening day lineup.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 The Nimmo boot is a stinger. Despite his reputation apparently cooling among prospect watchers, he may well have moved up the depth chart this offseason with the loss of Nieuwenhuis via waiver claim and the removal of Ceciliani from the roster. A hottish start may have made him the first outfielder called up.
