Was Claudell an all-star, or was he just to me at the time?

For the record, I would have not thought of Claudell, the only one here who played a relatively significant role on one of Vida's championship teams. I remember him making the ASG, but just wouldn't have connected him.

I passed over Dock in my mind a few times until I remembered his Oakland time coming up in "Dockumentary".

Guy I really wanted to be right was Mike Torrez, but his claim to fame is having one of the best careers w/o an ASG appearance.

Also wanted Art Shamsky to have been an All-Star as a Red, but I knew that was wrong. Others who crossed my mind sans proper credentials included Teddy Martinez and Alex Trevino (plus J. Alou).

Remember 1978 trade of Blue to the Reds that was nixed by commish (two years after sale to MFYs was kiboshed)? Would have made Tom Terrific a correct answer.

Fun quiz for a dig-out Sunday.

Ok, then --- among position players, two of the top ten in highest lifetime WAR without ever being selected to an ASG were once Mets.

Who are they?

Another intriguing Q. Gotta be long, solid, unspectacular careers.

Guessing Richie Hebner, Jose Valentin.

Good one on Hebner. One more to go. The guy you didn't get happens to top this list -- he has baseball's all-time highest lifetime WAR without ever being selected to an all-star game.

Green was a two-time all star.

This goes back to the last Vida Blue content quiz where Jesse Hudson was the answer. All of the illustrations are the work of famed commercial artist Bob Peak, who also did the Blue Time Magazine cover at the top of the thread.

I didn't have to research every one of the 22 Mets teammates to determine which were all-stars. So for example, I could safely eliminate teammates like Rob Gardner, Gary Rajsich and Charlie Williams, who never came close to having an all star caliber season, without having to look up their careers. I did research Shamsky just to be on the safe side even though I suspected that he never made the all-star team as a Red.

One player that I researched, believing that there was a reasonable chance he might've been an all-star (though he wasn't) was Juan Berenguer.

Let's extend this quiz for one more question.

Among one-time Mets, who was the first ever major league teammate of Vida Blue?
