Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Wow! Awesome shot. We have to find a clearer version of that. I have not surfed Baseball Fever in a long time.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I wonder how many of the seven catchers on the 1962 Mets were in the same photo. Obviously, they weren't all here at the same time. Later
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 This has to be one of the latest Butterball pics posted to these threads:[fimg=555:odyxvb6u]https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8113/29437627432_e1f4425ac6_o.jpg[/fimg:odyxvb6u]
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Wow. Excellent pic. Oh, I almost forgot. I ran into this. Taken moments apart. It was actually in my Mets 60s folder from my old PC. I don't recall finding the pic or where it came from (probly Baseball Fever or Baseball Birthdays). I've been saving Mets photos for 15 years now. This is almost worth colorizing.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2016 Author Posted September 8, 2016 You could see the water fountain and the diagonal metal fence bar in the photo you posted. More details!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 It's called the "Walter Fountain". In caps.[fimg=800:32kn1vzd]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/P_7r-0O8zlw0CNmbIZHfC6MoVUtxn95py_6g5dNicx571lglnNQhEkHwURUarqWvvPIjDs-coiZs0b1F5p1imQKCCIYrf-0v8oWFCWzkd45A1jLg05GMtF851m5uXDqdtsQ14QqbqsnXn05WGW-VLfvoPlNmwF6sHDAG6jXNPK349Y-Ja4Q01QVVOuIuZZIWY-BkxEKFzg5jst5bcPZuYv8-FRx1hU1E_l8D9mXWoM4iLSJiQX_nbkQr7VY9tkvzCKTMiyZ_JPzKMu7zu8359zTJT-TQpSrbthW2EBcW30eW9ILosH9RUNXw7g3b_yHJm9oX3GVREHIkRYHK0LaKpU83kfJA2FW5-2KT4gaPwiyFGqkTPjjaYJ8QkvX0VvIy5C5HK-zcafQAVFeHeBTOTBvZb7-9Rn-PTvZLQ35NAOeDf0MkkfDuikP0f7UIc7CKX4DmLK6xXUDSlGE-RAx2TWNGXaY-TKm7-fIm6RlN5gGIZyR8koDZhverhJH--BTUd0NvadY_TLaaSLxvuSw2mugvPAMQxMJIEJBgmvDUtqQ6DCMrWA5ONCYSsqn5gkHofOaVgUIeW1xeARrb4KpVaYTZxvjTJu0dU2qq8OqNKEcPg8YT=w1476-h1910-no[/fimg:32kn1vzd]

And it's the cleanest, least cluttered background.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 I tried to clean that up^ but it always comes out worse.Walter at his fountain.

Who?

Who?Joe Pignatano was a '62 Met who also played for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Pignatano is not pictured in any of these bench photos because he did not join the Mets until the Summer of '62 and therefore, was not at the Mets first Spring Training at Butterball, where these pictures were shot. Pignatano retired after the '62 season, famously hitting into a triple play in his last MLB at-bat. So he never appeared at Butterball Field as a Mets player.Thank you for playing.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Gah. I should have tried harder.
