Mets sign RHP reliever Stolmy Pimentel to a minor league deal and invite him to Spring Training. Once was a prospect, now a fringey middle reliever with cuppas with the Pirates and Rangers last year. Still just 25.

If i had free time, I'd so go back to last offseason and retweet everyone that made this joke with "Whew, I'm glad I printed them!"

seriously, haven't the Mets earned a reprieve from any jokes about their talent at this point?

Add Jim Henderson to the mix of bullpenners sure to get the WS ticket printers busy.

The 6' 5", RH, 33 y/o native of Calgary, Canada had 28 saves for the 2013 Brewers but has pitched only 11 ML innings since while recovering from shoulder surgery.
Any remembrances, Monk?

That resume gets him a minor league contract and an invite to ST in what seems like a no down-side move.

Yeah, I noted that too. I think in the Hardy Boys, Frank and Joe occasionally head into Bayport to stop by Henderson Hardware and consult with Jim on a case.

It's been 15 years since the Mets have had a player named "Jim": the mostly forgotten Jim Mann who pitched briefly for the Mets in 2000.

But this has not been the longest streak without a Jim. The Mets were completely Jimless for the entire decade of the 1980s, with no Jims between Jim Dwyer (1976) and Jim Lindeman (1994).

Mets Named Jim
Jim Beauchamp (1972, 1973)
Jim Bethke (1965)
Jim Dwyer (1976)
Jim Fregosi (1972, 1973)
Jim Gosger (1969, 1973, 1974)
Jim Hickman (1962 - 1966)
Jim Lindeman (1994)
Jim Mann (2000)
Jim Marshall (1962)
Jim McAndrew (1968 - 1973)
Jim Tatum (1998)

Oh, Jim Henderson? I know that guy. Was on my pretend-baseball team a few years ago, owned a tree-trimming business, and his boy used to mow our lawn for a few summers. Haircut you could set your watch by. Also, nice strikeout numbers.
