Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 ... after all this time I'm still not sure how to pronounce Jeurys Familia's first name.I've heard "Joris" (rhymes with "Boris")And Jay-oris.And Jay-or-reese.And "Jairiss" (First syllable rhymes with "Hair")And I recently heard Daniel Murphy refer to him as "Yoris" which, probably, is the most accurate. Can't we get this settled?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I've always assumed, from my limited knowledge of Spanish, that it's Hay-yoor-eese. (Rhymes with geese at the end.)

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 Wikipedia just makes it even more puzzling:Jeurys Familia (Spanish pronunciation: [?xeu?is fa?milja]
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Author Posted October 20, 2015 Next time Steve Gelbs interviews him, he should just ask, "Seor Familia, how the fuck do you pronounce your first name?"
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 I just go with Jerry Family. If nothing else it confirms the reputation of Americans as clueless and xenophobic gringos.
