Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Anybody wants to take my turn, go right ahead.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 ''There's more behind this.... I'm part of the old regime. I've been here the longest of the regulars. I'm a little too big in New York, too.''

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 9, 2015 Author Posted October 9, 2015 Yeah, Mazz was my next guess. Mazzilli's trade came after the new regime was in place. Henderson was gone and Stearns was perpetually on the shelf, so he would have seen himself as something of a leftover in the Mookie-and-Hubie generation, and was just knuckle-headed enough to believe his New York bona fides (and not his .228 batting average) represented some sort of threat to the new management, not recognizing that his mustache undermined his 1981 season and derailed his rising career.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Ok then, I don't think this one is too tough''My main regret,'' ?????? said, ''is leaving 22 guys. It's hard. You pitch for a club four and a half years, you're part of the club and responsible for part of its success. I didn't pitch effectively all the time. But I'm looking forward now to a new opportunity.''
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Not Billy!Try not to concentrate too much on the "I didn't pitch effectively all the time" part of the quote. He's actually given us two clues earlier.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 The "leaving 22 guys" part is interesting. It sounds like he's saying that there are two players that he'll be glad to leave behind.

When was the last time the Mets traded 3 guys at once? Hmmmmm
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 You're on the right trackbut he was not part of 3-player trade.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Cut the crap, Hahn. NO ONE PREFERS THIS!
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Not Ojeda.A contemporary of his, though.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 Rosters were still at 24 in 1989? I didn't think it lasted that long.
