seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Article seems to think that both teams won, financially, somehow.http://fueledbysports.com/braves-acquire-nick-swisher-michael-bourn-for-chris-johnson/"This looks like a great trade for both sides, with the Braves ridding themselves of the awful Johnson contract and they will have money to spend going into 2017. For Cleveland it rids them of the Swisher and Bourn and will allow them to go out and spend on some free agents this offseason."So the Indians get money of the books this year, the Braves get money off the books after NEXT year.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Swisher and Chris Johnson in the same deal? I can hardly recall a trade involving a greater sum of douchiness.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 I tend to the think of the Braves and the Indians as regular trading partners.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Atlanta's back-pedaling as fast as they can away from those string of long-term deals they made two years ago.Upton - Gone!; Upton - Gone!; Gattis - Gone!; Kimbrel - Gone!; Johnson - Gone!Only ones they've kept (to date anyway) are Freeman, Teheran, and Simmons. On the other side, Swisher's been hurt for about two years running now (101 ABs since last Aug 9th) and Bourn's been decidedly mediocre ever since he left Atlanta after 2012 and the Mets opted not to sign him AND give up the draft pick that became Dom Smith.P.S. the Braves have now traded away three Johnsons -- Kelly, Jim, and Chris -- in the past two weeks. They are now, I believe, Johnson-less.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Well, with the acquisition of Swisher, the Braves have at least addressed their Dick Factor deficiency.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Had to google Chris. Not very memorable.

Not very memorable.Came to Atlanta from Arizona as a rider in the Justin Upton deal in January 2013 and immediately launched the best year of his career [.321/.358/.457 w/46 XBHs] even though Keith would always talk about how he didn't like his swing. The Braves gave Johnson a four-year deal off that one season but it looks as if Keith was right as Johnson's yet to top a .300 OBA since.
