I just realized and I must double check with youse that the Colorado Rockies have never had a Hall of Famer take the field for them.

Is this possibly right?

Wikipedia confirms it.

Of course, the short existence of the team has something to do with it, plus the fact that, unlike, say, the Mets, their early teams featured younger players and not over-the-hill ones. The 62 Mets had Richie Ashburn (and maybe one day Gil Hodges), but that was because they were going for known players (especially if they played for the Dodgers) even though they weren't likely to help the team on the field.

There's also presumably the fact that, with the altitude factor and their existence overlapping with the steroid era, the HoF electorate has been distrustful of lofty stats put up by some otherwise seemingly viable candidates such as Larry Walker and Andres Gallaraga.

But you'd figure some guy like Roberto Alomar or Eddie Murray might have tacked an otherwise uneventful year in Colorado onto the end of his career.
