Media's dirty test apparently came during the time he was serving his initial suspension.
The new suspension was announced about three weeks after he had returned but the results of tests, and any possible appeals of them, often take some time before they're acted upon.

You do have to wonder how he could have been stupid enough to take the risk.
You'd have to think he was convinced by someone that they'd found a masking agent that would work and that he was convinced his shoulder wouldn't get back to full strength without additional help.

It's funny, obviously it's easy to throw guys under the proverbial bus, but you do have to see the human side of why in the above. the raise he earned by successfully surviving 3 seasons in the majors was enough to change his life and probably his family's beyond recognition. More then anything he needed to make it happen. It fell apart on him and he was desperate enough to risk the same russian roulette on the way back.

I know people will say (for example) Logan Verrett hasn't (probably) used PEDs and he's struggling too, or Anthony Recker might be back down to Vegas and not able to provide for his kid as he'd like and if you cheat, you're potentially cheating them too, but it's hard to be too hard on a guy who's so desperate that he takes that chance.

a hyperbolic example obviously, but there are people that your argument can apply to in all kinds of professions and i dont feel bad for them either.
