Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 As per breaking news from the 'Mets Roster' thread, the Mets are apparently ready to call up 22 y/o Akeel Morris [u:27vvoxrg]from A+ Post St Lucie[/u:27vvoxrg] to bolster the bullpen.A 10th round draft pick in 2010 from St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, ya gotta like [u:27vvoxrg]44 Ks and 10 hits allowed in 31 IP[/u:27vvoxrg] although the 14 walks should give pause (or paws ... but not applause). Also had a 0.63 ERA over 57 IP in low-A Savannah last year. Was already on the 40 man roster which partially explains the seemingly out of LF move and should require the least amount of paperwork to promote.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 With a series with the good hitting Jays coming up, and the having used up lots of relievers in the last two games, the extra arm can't hurt. I was waiting for the Mets to promote him, just didn't think they'd promote him this far this fast.Later
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 That's quite a jump. Hope he doesn't get shell-shocked against those Toronto boppers.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I can't find any reference to the corresponding roster move that's being made.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Is on his way to New York and is expected to beactivated tonight...Morris, 22, will wear #64...A corresponding roster move will be made...Morris, a native of St. Thomas, would be the 12th player born in the Virgin Islands to appear in the majors, including original Met Joe Christopher...
