He objected to being bumped while leaning into the stands behind 1st for a foul ball.Blue Jays going all in at the trading deadline looking like a good decision right about now...Only one loss in 12 games since the Reyes/Tulo trade. Now just 1.5 games out, were 8.0 back on July 28
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 That second Wild Card really has changed the dynamic of the trade deadline ......MFY stood pat ....good

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Jays win, MFYs tied 4-4 in the bottom 14th in Cleveland. Bases loaded, 2 out for Yan Gomes
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Onto the 15th.MFYs went up 4-2 in the 10th but Miller blew the save.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 I didn't make it to the end but happy to see the MFYs lost in 16, and the Nats were shut out, another day of Triple H for us.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Those were two nice baskets of candy to wake up to this morning.Nats fans are eating their own these days. The Matt Williams hatred is palpable. And they're convinced that the Rockies are lying down for the Mets after getting up for the fearsome Nats. One of my faves:sportsfan882 on Yesterday at 09:35:20 PM The Rockies' bats are gutless. Harvey serves up homers like no other and the Rockies crush RHP but they looked disinterested again tonight. Harvey was featuring his B/C level stuff tonight and they didn't come close to scoring.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Harvey serves up homers like no other Fun fact for sportsfan882:Matt Harvey vs. Washington in 2015: 27 2/3 IP, 0 HR allowed.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Better than Yankee losses, I guess, are Yankee losses that toast their bullpen.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2015 Author Posted August 12, 2015 Introducing your second place New York YanquisBlue Jays went from 8 games out to 0.5 ahead in 15 days/14 games.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 While we're talking about NOT watching MFY games, my #1 reason for not watching (even recaps) is not having to look at Sweeny Murti. How ugly can one person be? He looks like the result from a union between Bobby Jindal and E.T.And that's on his good days. It was ok when he covered the team for WFAN. But watch him?If anyone ever had the "face for radio" its good ol' Sweeny.EEESH.What a meeskeit. Later

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 True! It's just that collapses have more dramatic impact when they come at the conclusion of the season. The Yankees will have an opportunity to recover. The Mets didn't.
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 What would be even sweeter is if the Yankees recover, and then collapse again. MWAHAHAHAAHHA
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 I'd just rather a prolonged slide to mediocrity. Also (and this is not "rooting" for injuries), I expect that some of their 35+ year old players are eventually going to turn into pumpkins/get hurt.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 If the Yanx want some extra pitching maybe they could pick up Joba Chamberlain who was just dropped by the Blue Jays. They had picked him up three weeks ago after the Tigers dropped him but he never pitched for them on the big league club.

Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Christ, I just checked, and Chamberlain is only 29. It feels like he's been around forever.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Could you imagine the shower of shit that would pour down upon the Mets if they had a prospect whose arm they so explicitly prized whose future they so wholly believed in and banked on that they set up a list of highly publicized rules that applied exclusively and arbitrarily to him? Only to abandon that plan just as arbitrarily, moving him from the rotation to the bullpen to the rotation as per announcements not by the manager or pitching coach or even the GM, but the managing partner/heir?To end up damaging himself anyhow, initially with rotator cuff problems that the team first declared to be temporary but later acknowledged had a lasting effect, and then to finally go under for the Tommy John surgery? Finally? Did I say finally? After the guy wrecked his ankle on a trampoline, in the Yankees real home town of Tampa, doing recreational trampoline activity during spring training could you just imagine? And ultimately, the guy ends up not a prized asset at all, but just another journeyman pitcher trying to find himself? Did they even get compensation when the Tigers signed him away? To be ultimately left with a Yankee career measured in holds and painful lessons learned? Could you imagine?

And from the time he first came to the majors, we knew Joba was kind of special.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2015 Author Posted August 16, 2015 Blue Jays salvage the final game so the net result is the Yanx going from 1/2 game down to 1/2 up.Seven more games in September between the two.
