Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Wow! 18 and 11? I have to admit I haven't been paying any attention at all to the game results. I kind of sensed that the Mets had a winning record, but that's better than I expected. I know none of this matters until Monday, but it's nice to see how much winning they've been doing.

Blow up the team, have more-or-less unimpressive spring training, do a blockbuster trade just as the season starts in which they shed a bunch of salary, and they come out of the gate 3-0.Mets end the first series tied for the second Wild Card slot.PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10Div WDiv LPCTLg WLg LPCT1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta301.000W33-0301.000301.0002[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York21.6671.01.0W12-121.66721.667T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadephia12.3332.03.0L31-200.00000.000T[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington12.3332.03.0L11-212.33312.3335[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami03.0003.07.0L10-303.00003.000PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10Lg WLg LPCTDIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CIN.png[/fimg] Cincinnati301.000+1.5+1.5W33-0301.000DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/COL.png[/fimg] Colorado301.000+1.0+1.0W33-0301.000DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta301.000+1.0+1.0W33-030.0001[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SF.png[/fimg] San Francisco31.750W23-131.750T2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/LAD.png[/fimg] Los Angeles21.667L12-121.667T2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York21.667W12-121.667T4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/STL.png[/fimg] St. Louis11.5000.51.0L11-111.500T4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CHC.png[/fimg] Chicago11.5000.51.0W11-111.500T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washngton12.3331.03.0L11-212.333T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadelphia12.3331.03.0L11-200.000T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ARI.png[/fimg] Arizona12.3331.03.0L11-212.3339[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SD.png[/fimg] San Diego13.2501.56.5L21-313.250T10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PIT.png[/fimg] Pittsburgh03.0002.010.5L30-303.000T10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami03.0002.010.5L30-303.000T10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIL.png[/fimg] Milwaukee03.0002.010.5L30-303.000

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 15, 2015 Author Posted April 15, 2015 I'll post the full standings tomorrow after the late games are in, but the NL East is all finished, and the Mets go to bed as both the division leaders and the hottest team in the National League.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 Offseason marquee teams like San Diego, Chicago, and LA who didn't necessarily make a splash out of the gate have made a move the last two series.Early sinkers include Milwaukee, Philly (you're welcome), Pittsburgh, and the defending champion Giants.San Francisco and Pittsburgh may not be that bad (but if McCutcheon is hurt, it could be a long Pittsburgh summer). Philly and Milwaukee may actually be that bad. But the Giants have lost six in a row in a division where a lot of teams are muscling up. Their on-again/off-again season pattern may continue. The East division looks pretty nicely divided between two packs of haves and have-nots. As tied for first as the Mets may be, I'm allowing Atlanta to take the the technical division lead based on their head-to-head edge... for now.PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10HEATDiv WDiv LPCTLg WLg LPCTT1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta63.667L26-3463.66763.667T1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York63.6670.00.0W46-31063.66763.667T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami36.3333.06.0W23-6524.00024.333T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadephia36.3333.06.0L43-6-124.33324.333T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington36.3333.06.0W13-6424.33324.333PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10HEATLg WLg LPCTDIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/COL.png[/fimg] Colorado72.778+1+1W37-21072.778DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CHC.png[/fimg] Chicago53.625+0.5+0.5W15-3653.625DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta63.667+0.0+0.0L26-3463.0001[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/LAD.png[/fimg] Los Angeles63.667W46-31033.500T2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York63.667W46-31063.667T2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SD.png[/fimg] San Diego64.6000.50.5W26-4864.600T4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/STL.png[/fimg] St. Louis43.5711.01.5W14-3543.571T4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CIN.png[/fimg] Cincinnati54.5561.01.5L15-4454.556T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ARI.png[/fimg] Arizona45.4442.05.5L24-5245.444T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami36.3333.010.5W23-6524.000T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington37.3003.513.5W13-7425.2869[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadelphia36.3333.010.0L43-6-124.333T10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PIT.png[/fimg] Pittsburgh36.3333.010.0L23-6124.333T10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SF.png[/fimg] San Francisco37.3003.514.5L63-7-337.300T10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIL.png[/fimg] Milwaukee26.2503.514.5L12-6126.250
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Lots of great things in 2015 so far. Mets are in first (tie anyway), Nats are in last, MFY's are in last.Let's keep it up.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 2006 club had many more stars than 2015 but I already like this club so much better. For one thing this team has more than twice the homegrown talent that club did and what it lacks in starpower it makes up for with a huge advantage in depth.'06 club was so strung together, threadbare beyond the glossy outer shell (itself a problem because bums like Wagner had no capable replacements), a single injury to a relief pitcher in July basically doomed the club. This team has already absorbed the loss of a starting pitcher and a closer and you can't even tell.On the way to 102!!!!!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I agree. (Maybe not about the 102 wins, but about the rest of it.) I'd like to see the Mets play at about a .550 pace during the weeks that Wright is out. If they can do that, it will mean that they have the depth to weather his absence. This is an amazingly home-grown team. Look at all of the prominent players who have never been in a big league game for any team other than the Mets: Wright, Duda, Murphy, d'Arnaud, Flores, Harvey, Niese, deGrom, Gee, Lagares, Familia, Tejada, Montero.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: This team has already absorbed the loss of a starting pitcher and a closer and you can't even tell.Starter, closer, the guy slated to be the main LHR (Edgin), still waiting on rehabs from the previous closer and a set-up man (Parnell & Black), and now the 3Bman.No one hit (assuming Wright's injury is relatively short) should be critical enough to torpedo a whole club, but that's a lot to absorb considering it's been from just ST plus the first nine games.Heavy division component to the early part of the season -- they neither leave the eastern time zone nor play a non-East (NL or AL) team until mid-May -- also makes this early part of the calendar most interesting than in most years.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 Parnell, Edgin, Black, Mejia. Four relievers including the first and second closer choices missing from this bullpen. Five if you count Gene F. Walter. And they're absorbing it. They haven't even launched Operation Leathersich* yet.Folks decry that Sandy hasn't done anything to upgrade the pen. But he's been doing it for years. Open your eyes, jackass!*2 2/3 innings in Las Vegas1 hit7 seven strikeouts0 walks.
