DH N. McLouth
SS D. Espinosa
CF M. Taylor
LF T. Moore
1B M. Carp (HEY!)
C J. Lobaton
3B I. Stewart
2B E. Burriss
SP A. J. Cole

CF Laggy
RF Grandy
3B Davey
LF Cuddy
2B Murphy
DH 'Berry
SS Spanish-Flowery
C Dreamy
1B Soupy
P Jake

IN MEDIA RES: Homers by Cuddy and Grandy. Ol' Dutch Boy went for three innings (3 H, 2 ER, 5 K/1 BB), with Laggy freezing speedy, toolsy Michael Taylor on one of the run-scoring hits, as Taylor tried to turn two bags into three.

Young Mr. Matz is hurling now, with more than a little giddyup to that thoroughbred fastball. More than enough for Recker, whose passed ball leads to an unearned run in the 5th.

3-2, Team Carpetbags.

Matz leaves one up in the zone to swinger-for-life Danny Espinosa, and it's 4-2. That fastball, though... droolworthy.

Sporting-- what else?-- a ratty-ass ST beard, Mike Carp looks like Kirk with less Vitamin E. Could probably use some B-Complex, too, and a lot more veggies, judging by his comparative build.

From the in-game interview of Mr. Matz with Alexa Datt (OH HAI), for your consideration:

DATT: So, you're a Long Island guy. Mets fan?
MATZ: [smiles] Um... yeah. [slight pause] Um, especially now.
DATT: Who was your favorite Met?
MATZ: [Pause] That's hard. Maybe, um, Mike Piazza. He was... the guy... um, when I was younger.

I'm not saying/I'm just saying: That's a lot of pauses for a die-hard.

Nice, efficient, zone-pounding 10-pitch 7th for Old Nassau's own Matthew Bowman.

If the Nat bullpen candidates' performance-- Aaron Barrett, Grace, et. al.-- so far is any indication, they will not miss Clippard at all.

Lagares (who had a nice looking 3-hit day in addition to the kindasorta outfield assist) out for den Dekker.

Tovar hits (!) a leadoff double (!!) in the 8th, and Flores-- who's worked a few nice ABs even when making outs today-- whacks one up the middle to get the Mets within one.

Johnny Monell with the rip, no me degas
I give him fifty cents just to stay warm in Vegas

Flores is going to have a real big year.

Could be. Who knows?

Then Reynolds scores from first on the Monell gapper. Then Campbell, then MdD, then a Castellanos homer to cap things.

If nothing else, the 51s should kick some serious sun-chapped ass this year.

And they bring in Alvarez to protect the lead against three lefty batters, and it looks like he's trying to walk to Las Vegas.

And it looks like they needed those extra runs.
Top 9: Dario Alvarez ... Not Good (and not good timing for a LHR to be Not Good). Carlos Torres ... Not Good (served up a granny)
5 in, 1 on, still just 1 out
11-9 Mets

Damn Nats.

Some damn Nat hit a granny off Torres in the 9th.

11-9 Mets

Torres is able to close the game. Mets win.

Laggy, 3 hits. Grandy & Cudd homer, deGrom looked good.
Good day.

I'm catching the replay of the game - who the hell is announcing? I don't recognize these voices.

OE - It's Jim Duquette and Scott Braun.

It was just odd not having one familiar voice on the tv broadcast (Duquette is familiar on the radio, but is out of place in the TV booth).

Saw people on facebook hatin' Cliff Floyd's work. I think he's pretty good. Better than I expected.

I haven't caught Cliff yet - I'm looking forward to hearing him in action.

A couple of times they got caught up in trying to show us how much they knew and forgot to tell us who we were watching do stuff on the screen(pitch, hit and field) . But overall, they weren't too bad.
